Hi, I'm Harvey.

I'm always eager to meet interesting people, to explore beautiful places, and to do some challenging work!

I love manual labour and always put in my best effort. I have plenty of experience with building, gardening, logging, and all sorts of other tasks.

This year I really want to do hard physical work and learn new skills. I’d love to do some climbing and kayaking or canoeing. I would also enjoy swimming, hiking, climbing and good food!

I've worked different jobs: bartending, lifeguarding, on a boating lake, cleaning, construction, labouring and architecture for example. I also have experience in selling on eBay, and in online marketing. I'm a scout leader and I volunteer at a local woodland.

I studied architecture at university and really took an interest in sustainable design and construction. Who knows, it might come in handy for your project!

I’ve done four workaways over 5 months so far. I had good fun doing tasks like gardening, carpentry, digging, and chainsawing on all of them.

I spend my free time walking, running, working out, reading, and relaxing with friends and family. My favourite outdoor activites are long hikes and camping.

I can't wait to get involved in another exciting project, so hopefully I'll see you soon!

Que habilidades tienes?
I can use handheld tools such as axes, pickaxes, hoes, shovels, rakes, hammers and more. I can also use a drill, strimmer, and tiller.

I have a lot of experience splitting logs, and some experience with (very basic) carpentry.

I have participated in construction with concrete, and spent a good amount of time mixing cement with a shovel. I also learnt to lay concrete blocks at this time.

I have experience painting and repairing things, and have a good attention to detail.

I have built a wall for a raised gardening bed with stones, so know how to use stone in a very basic way. Building things is one of the most satisfying activities to me.

I have a little experience in growing and harvesting food, which I would love to continue learning about. I am very happy around animals, and would really enjoy some more experience with farm animals and/or pets.

I have some skills in food preparation, and cooking, another area I have a lot of interest in.

I can also clean, which I am sure will be a very useful skill.

Other skills I have are in drawing, architectural design and selling things online.

Milo is a fantastic host and a wonderful person, he always treated me with genuine generosity and kindness. He is also very intelligent, compassionate and funny, with a great work ethic. The passion he has for his project is so inspiring, I have a fresh look on life after listening to his stories, plans and projects. Thank you for giving me a window into your life Milo, I am so grateful for how well you accommodated me into your home.

The work you will do at Milo's really depends on your abilities and what needs to be done. You must have an open mind and be ready to fail many times at many things, no matter what they are. Nevertheless, Milo will accommodate your skills and abilities and change the work out throughout the day, keeping things interesting. I did a variety of tasks such as: building a compost bin, fig harvesting, tilling the soil, strimming, collecting hay, filling a tractor with manure, cleaning the house, planting things, watering plants, pruning, cutting back thorns, destroying a table, building a raised bed with stones, dismantling growing nets, folding laundry, making passata, and plenty of picking up and moving soil and stones. These are just some things that come to mind, the variety is endless, and there is so much to learn. The work is incredibly cathartic, and once the 5 hours are over you will be able to completely relax and take in the beautiful architecture and landscape.

I was so lucky to be at Milo's with Janhaelle and Karina for 2 weeks and Jonathan for 1 week, so spent my free afternoons and days off exploring the local towns, eating great food, browsing the markets, meeting the kindest (and most colourful) people you can imagine, cycling, exercising on the roof, seeing art galleries, playing games, shopping at Gino's, camping at the beach, and drinking many espressos with great company. Milo is careful to match workawayers, so it is likely you will make friends at his place, which enriches the experience so much more. Milo often took us along when he needed to visit a town, so I had many free trips to these wonderful places. He was also happy to introduce us to local farmers and builders, so we learnt about their ways of life.

It would be rude to not mention the food that Milo prepared for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day, as it was the best food I have ever eaten in my life. The attention to detail, drive to improve and generosity that Milo has really appears when he cooks. There was always more than enough on the table, I gained almost 3kg in 3 weeks, despite the heavy work. There was also a great variety; every meal was different, which is very impressive when you have two dishes for most meals. He made his own yogurt, cheese, jam, bread, foccacia, and friselli. We exclusively ate ingredients either from his garden or from a local farm, and drunk a lot of very expensive local wine. I felt very lucky to help out or watch the process, as Milo has a way to do everything, which always turned out to be the best way. The best part of the food was seeing how proud Milo was to have grown something and been able to serve it to us.

I have a of respect for the work that Milo has put in on his project. It is really paying off, and I have no doubt that his vision will be a success. Thank you for having me be part of the project Milo, I hope I wasnt too expensive from the food and drink. Good luck with everything. Grazie mille.
