Hi, I’m Hanna! I’m 22 years old and from Hamburg, Germany.
I’m currently studying for my bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Sociology at a German distance learning university. Alongside my studies, I work part-time at a non-profit organization in Hamburg. Recently, I got the opportunity to work remotely for three months from the middle of march until the beginning of June. So I decided to use this time to travel Southern Europe and see some places I haven't been to.
I would love to explore parts of Italy and then travel the Balkans, such as Croatia and Albania. Greece is also high on my list! But I’m flexible with my travel plans and always open to recommendations:)
One of the main reasons I travel is to meet new people, experience different cultures and local traditions and give something back to the places I visit. That’s why I would really love to stay with a host and help out for a few weeks during my travels.
I’m also open to a Travel buddies and would love to make new friends along the way!
I have travelled a lot around Europe as a scout as a child and teenager. Since then I have done some Interrail trips all over Europe and lived for half a year in Canada. I already have some experience with farm work from my previous Workaway in Canada in 2024. I love animals (I have a dog my self and did horse back riding for most of my life), gardening, and spending time outdoors. I love hiking, running and going for long walks. I would also say I'm a good cook;). I
Additionally, I have experience working with children (with disabilities) from a vonluntary social year I did some years ago and from my job as a school support assistant for children with special needs last year.
I would describe myself as an calm, empathetic, open-minded, reliable and very curious person. I’m always excited to learn new skills and contribute wherever I can.

I speak English very well and I can also teach you some German.
I’m very good with animals. I have a dog at home and did horse riding for a along time.Two years ago I worked on a Farm in Canada during my Work and Travel back then and I got some experience in Farm Work.
I have experience in Child Care because of my job as a school support assistant. I’m open to all kinds of people. I have also worked in the service industry and Catering before.I’m always willing to learn new skills and meet new people;)

I will try to describe my time here as thoroughly as possible. I was the first Workawayer and stayed a little over two weeks, from the end of March to the beginning of April. I honestly wish I could have stayed much longer. I simply had the best time with Claudia, Giorgio, and Donna. It was even better than I had hoped for. Not only because I was… read more welcomed so warmly from the very beginning and treated like part of the family, but also because I really loved the farm and the work with the horses.
About the accommodation: I had my own large room with a private bathroom in the house. We always ate together, and not only did they make sure that I had vegetarian food, but Claudia and Giorgio are also excellent cooks and I absolutely loved the meals! The house is about 10–15 minutes away from the farm, and Claudia always drove us there together by car.
In general, the work consists of helping to feed the horses in the morning and in the evening. The rough daily routine was bringing Donna to school in the morning and then driving to the farm to take care of the horses. But we always said that no day is the same and that is very true! There was a lot of variety, from gardening to accompanying Claudia to go shopping or to appointments, visits from the farrier and the vet, preparations for the Easter celebration and more. It was never boring, but I was also never overwhelmed or left alone with tasks and could always ask for help,
But Of course, it wasn’t all work just. I was able to ride, and Giorgio and Claudia taught me so much more about horses and Western riding. There were always friends or other horse owners around, and even if not everyone spoke good English, we still had a lot of fun eating together, laughing a lot, and I met many lovely people and made friends on the farm.
We also made several small trips in the area. It is incredibly beautiful there! From the house you can see the Alps, and the villages look like they came straight out of a picture book. I also learned a lot about the traditions, culture, and food of Piedmont. And I picked up a little bit Italian as well. We also spent a day to Asti and they even organized a trip to Genoa and we had such a wonderful day there. On my last they we did a longer trail ride and it was such amazing experience for me!
But the best part was, of course, the family themselves. Claudia and Giorgio are such warm, attentive, and humorous people who care deeply about others and about animals. They always try to help wherever and who ever they can. Donna is such a sweet and funny little girl with a very free spirit, and I had so much fun playing and colouring with her, even though she doesn’t speak English yet.
We shared the same values and laughed so much together. I never felt lonely and could always go to them if I needed anything.
Once again, thank you so so much for everything! This was a really speciaI time for me. I miss you and hope that I can come back and visit again soon.

Hanna Sophie è stata la nostra prima esperienza con Workaway. Siamo rimasti entusiasti! La sua voglia di fare, la sua gentilezza, la sua autonomia, la sua grande pazienza con la nostra bimba Donna e la sua passione per i cavalli e il mondo che li circonda🙂 speriamo davvero di poterla ospitare nuovamente, è stata un'esperienza bellissima!!!
