Descripción
Grassroots, collective activism is hard work, but a joy. I have recently been participating and working with a theatre company where refugees, asylum seekers and people with mental and/or physical health disabilities devise and perform their own productions and speak truth to power. I, like you, am a climate justice activist, but still feel an imposter saying so! I love learning, as well as hiking, jogging, rock climbing, kayaking, horse riding and being outdoors, and looking to push myself beyond my comfort zone. Most of all, I love discovering new places and connecting with people in the most sustainable and least impactful way possible.

Que habilidades tienes?
I have experience as a community volunteer in Mityana, Uganda, assisting refugees and asylum seekers in learning English and volunteering at a homeless shelter. I have also worked part-time in various front of house hospitality roles over the last 6 years, building my teamwork, communication and health and safety skills.
I have done rock climbing in the Alps, abseiled in Wales, hiked Snowdon and kayaked, walked and camped in many places across the UK. I also did ice skating to competition level when I was younger and spent many days at riding stables where I learned to do small jumps and cantering. However, I have not been able to do horse riding or climbing for several years and might need a bit of guidance before going back to them! I also hold a qualification for Life Saving swimming.
I value music and the arts, especially theatre. I have experience co-directing, writing, producing and acting in small productions, and will be training at the National Youth Theatre later this year.
I hold a First Class BASc in Global Sustainable Development and Life Sciences, reflecting how I enjoy thinking holistically, promoting sustainability and developing solutions. I also have a keen interest in philosophy.
I am particularly interested in intersectionality and promoting voices that often get marginalised. For instance, my dissertation involved co-producing an exhibition with people with lived experienced of a stigmatised mental health condition so as to elevate their voices and challenge misconceptions among the public. I therefore have experience working with more vulnerable groups. There is so much I can learn from other people and I am always trying to be open and challenge my positionality.Edad

Before we even met, Rūta invited me to join her at a cultural festival. We danced, sang, swam and hung out regularly with her friends who were all so welcoming. I am in awe! It was such an immersive experience for me and helped me understand more about my Lithuanian roots.
