  • Descripción

We are Eike and Gina, aged 32 and 34. In Germany we worked as social workers for the last six years. We are about to embark on an exciting one-year journey across Europe, starting in Denmark. Our goal is to discover new places, meet interessting people, and learn new skills along the way.

We enjoy being active and helpful, and we are happy to support with tasks around the house, in the garden, or with DIY projects. Eike has a strong passion for films and music, and he also plays the drums himself.

We are open-minded, curious, and looking forward to meaningful experiences and connections during our travels.

  • Que habilidades tienes?

    Gina:
    Social Work & Childcare
I hold a Master’s degree in Social Work and have extensive experience working with children and young people. I’ve worked as a babysitter, a children’s animator in Spain (ages 3–12), in a children’s home (ages 3–14), and in a project supporting displaced families with young children (0–6). For the past six years, I’ve been working in a youth care facility, helping teenagers (16–19) become more independent and prepare for adult life.

    Gardening & Farm Work
I am active with NABU, especially in children’s and youth projects. I would love to deepen my knowledge of gardening, organic farming, and permaculture.
I grew up helping my father in his garden, so I’m familiar with basic tasks like planting potatoes, radishes, carrots, onions, salads, and various herbs, as well as pruning trees. At the same time, I know there is still a lot to learn, and I’m very motivated to gain more hands-on experience.

    Language Practice
I started learning Spanish in school and continued during my studies. I’m motivated to improve both my Spanish and English and would love to reach a fluent conversational level by the end of my journey.

    Help Around the House
I’m happy to help with everyday household tasks such as cleaning, cooking, and general chores. I enjoy contributing to a shared living environment and supporting wherever needed.

    Creative at Heart
I enjoy being creative. Whether it’s painting on watercolor paper or sewing. I also love working with clay and wood. I’m always up for small creative projects.

    Eike:
    Gardening & Outdoor Work
I enjoy hands-on outdoor work. Through my involvement with NABU, I’ve participated in various conservation projects such as mowing meadows, planting trees and cleaning birdhouses. I’m comfortable with physically demanding work and don’t mind getting my hands dirty, whether that’s sawing wood, digging soil, or general maintenance tasks.

    DIY & Building Projects
I like working with wood and taking on DIY projects. My approach is mostly self-taught and based on trial and error rather than formal training. I’ve picked up some practical skills from my father, who trained as a carpenter, but I mainly enjoy learning by doing and figuring things out along the way.

    Social Work & People Skills
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and have experience working with children, teenagers, and refugees. Most of my work has been in institutions and projects supporting adolescents from around 13 up to their early 20s, including young people affected by trauma, depression, and anxiety. My focus has been on school-related challenges, vocational orientation, and supporting independence and preparation for adult life. I feel especially connected to young people still finding their direction, as I can relate to that phase of life myself. I value empathy, patience, and creating a supportive environment.

    Cooking
Cooking has been a long-time interest of mine. I’ve been cooking regularly since my teenage years and enjoy preparing a variety of dishes. I especially like vegetarian cooking and tend to use little meat in my meals. I’m happy to cook for others and try out new recipes.

    Computers, Internet & Tech
I grew up with computers and the internet and feel comfortable navigating both. I’m not formally trained in IT, but I’ve often been the go-to person in teams when it comes to solving everyday tech issues, especially with programs like Word or Excel.

    Music (Drums)
I’ve been playing the drums for about 20 years. I would describe myself as intermediate, though I often receive positive feedback. I’ve played in a few bands here and there, but never long-term. Still, music is an important part of my life, and I enjoy sharing it with others.
