Hey everyone! :)

My name is Erik, I'm 28 years old and since June 2023 I'm living and traveling as a nomadic bikepacker. I have no particular goal nor route in mind. It's all about the adventure and having the freedom of leaving a place if I feel like it or staying as long as I want to (if I'm welcomed to).

I did some Workaway and WWOOF in the past for about one year where I mostly worked on farms, in gardens or helped with some carpentry. I also worked in the field of landscape gardening for 2 years in Germany I have a Bachelor's degree in Security Management from way back but after my studies I decided not to persue the office and career path no more but live a more deeply, meaningful life.

I stayed with Cille, Johannes and lil Frida for around 2 weeks in summer 2023 being only their second workawayer. It's a very nice place that the both of them have built themselves in the mids of a very unique half-alternatively, half-ordinary populated allotment garden area. Their property invites you to just relax, enjoy it's nature, taste it's… read more various fruits and wild herbs. The first room that I was accommondated in as well as the tiny Swedish-stile house into which I moved after a week were lovely renovated and taken care of.

As I was having some financial troubles at that time Johannes helped me reach out to the rest of the garden community to ask if anybody needs some help with some projects where I could help with. This was a real kickstart for me so that I ended up spending around 3 month in the community, working fulltime at various projects in the community and having my very "own" property with tiny house that I was offered to stay in by one of my employers since I was so busy that I hadn't have any spare time left to fullfil my duties as a workawayer no more. I'm very grateful for the help I received by Johannes in Cille in that matter.

I consider both, Johannes and Cille, my friends and I appreciate to have met them. If I ever come back to the Copenhagen area I will defenitely shoot them a text to come by seeing them and the other nice, wild & warm-hearted people of Solager again.

Nevertheless, there are some things that I would like other workawayers to know before they come to this place. If you travel alone, you should defenitely expect and be able to spend some time alone with yourself. There isn't that much of a workload and you will not be entertained by Cille and Johannes 24/7. This can cause some confusion as it did for me in the beginning too. Cille takes her role as a mother very serious to an extend where it's difficult to even get a hold of her in the first place. And if so having a conversation longer than 30 seconds is practically impossible because Frida is demanding her attention again. This is not a perfect setup for being the main contact person to the workawayers. With Johannes I enjoyed the time we spend working together really much and we had very good conversions but he also isn't around all the time to have a chat with you. Both of them set their boundaries to what is their private area and when they need their private time very clearly. This can lead to disillusion if you expect to become an integrated part of a vibrant social network from day one where theres alway some chatter around and people you can talk and spend time with. On the other hand, they invite you to speak freely about what's on your mind and about how you feel as well - so don't hesitate to communicate directly and honestly!

If you bring some interest in off-grid living, the ability to be alone from time to time and the lust for slow pace living - this is a great place to be! Cille & Johannes both have some very fascinating life stories and insights to life to share and you have the chance to be be introduced to an awesome community at their twice a week held communal meals, if you want to. Copenhagen is also very close (Bus, S-Train) plus there is some nice nature around, just wating to be explored. I wish Johannes, Cille & Frida all the best and hope to see them again. I wish you guys only the best!

Daniel is a hardworking but still very friendly and relaxed host with a super fun young family! There were several interesting projects I could choose from. Clear recommendation!
