Hey there,

I'm Yuqiang (Elliot), a mixed Chinese & Korean. Raised in an open-minded family, I had been sent to international schools, learning and speaking English for over 15 years, which made me become an adventurer with a passion for exploring the world and connecting with its diverse cultures.

I've been studying and working in Germany for 2 years, and my journey has taken me from China to Korea, Japan, and across Europe. Having experienced the rich tapestry of countries like France, Switzerland, Poland, and Austria, I've developed a deep appreciation for the beauty of cultural diversity.

Since 2018, I've really liked the Workaway idea. I got to try it in many different places. I did lots of things like cleaning, fixing houses, language exchange, building websites, and making interesting videos to show things. These experiences helped me get better at these skills and taught me how people from different cultures can learn from each other and change in positive ways.

🏝 My experience as a workawayer 🌎

1. Preserving Tibetan Thangka Art

I spent 3 months in a Tibetan region of China in 2019, delving into the local culture. I visited numerous temples, interviewed residents and monks, engaged in discussions with cultural officers, and even learned the foundational skills of tangka painting. I produced videos and websites for tangka sales, wrote product reports, and presented in universities across different countries. This experience allowed me to form meaningful connections with the local community, and I developed a profound appreciation for their simpler way of life.

2. Film Director & Editor at TOYO International Film Festival 2021

I had the privilege of contributing as a Film Director & Editor at the TOYO International Film Festival 2021 in Japan. My responsibilities included providing English interpretation for scripts, directing actors from diverse cultural backgrounds, equipment management, collaborating with fellow editors to produce the final version of the film, and maintaining effective communication with festival organizers.

3. Help in a hostel on Jeju Island in South Korea

During my time doing Workaway on Jeju Island in South Korea in 2021, I had the special chance to help a local hostel with tasks such as housework, house renovation, decoration, website building, and crafting videos to entice visitors from around the world. Engaging with diverse guests allowed me to refine my communication skills and learn from a multitude of perspectives.

4. Offering assistance in a Berlin family

In another memorable adventure, I joined a welcoming family in Berlin as a Workawayer in 2022. Here, I took on responsibilities ranging from language exchange, help with walking the dog to tending the garden. This experience solidified my belief in the power of collaboration and taught me the art of harmonizing with different environments.

As a content creator, I enjoy making things like photos and videos, I can use them to show the wonderful places I see and the feelings I have. I can capture real moments, make stories with pictures, and remember important times.

I'm not content with mere sightseeing; I want to be part of the local life. I join in traditions, help out, and learn from the people around me. This way, I want to connect different cultures and make strong friendships that last.

I'm here with an open heart and an unwavering enthusiasm for exploration.
