Hi and thanks for reading this :)

My name is Eléa, I’m 22 years old and originally from a small village in the countryside of France. I studied Philosophy and Computer Science (I know, it’s a weird combination) in Paris, and had the chance to spend my final year abroad in Santiago de Chile. Right now I’m taking a small break from uni, and I am working in an association that helps asylum seekers upon their arrival in France until March. After that, I’m starting my next big trip, to Japan !

I’ve been using workaway for a few years and am very grateful for the simple way it gives us to get in touch and help each other :D
I’m interested in working with tourists for all the nice encounters and the language practice - using workaway, I’ve worked in hostels twice, one month in Sofia (Bulgaria) and another month in Puerto Natales (Chilean Patagonia). I was doing checks in/out, renting gear, preparing breakfasts, recommending tours, helping with the laundry and getting the rooms ready, etc.
Also, I would love to do more carpentry/DIY work to not be so helpless when the time to build my own house comes ;) I spent a week in Ireland helping a wonderful lady with her many animals and huge property in Ireland.
More recently, I’ve also been wanting to challenge myself by trying to become some kind of a teacher :0

I speak fluent French, English, and Spanish, as well as intermediate Japanese. I’ve been teaching myself for years, along with some practice in conversation clubs, and I am hoping to pass the JLPT N3 in December 2023. As a workawayer, I would like to be someone people can rely on, so I try to be hardworking and conscientious in everything I do, and to seize the chance to learn anything that others are willing to share with me.

What else ? I like reading , going on hikes or walks, crafts and friendly conversation :) I’ve been vegan for 8 years and I like hearing people’s views on their society or what they wish the world to be like.

エレアです、 ２２歳でフランスの田舎にある小さな村の出身です。パリで哲学とコンピューター・サイエンス（変な組み合わせだよね）を学び、最終学年をサンティアゴ・デ・チリで過ごす機会を得ました。今は大学を少し休学して、フランスに到着した亡命希望者を支援するアソシエーションで3月まで働いています。その後、次の大きな旅に出るー日本へ！

２・３年間workawayを使っていて、そんな簡単な助け合う方法に感謝している :D
珍しい方に会って、色々の言語を練習できるから観光業に興味がある。workawayのおかげで、ソフィア（ブルガリア）で1ヶ月、プエルト・ナタレス（チリのパタゴニア）で1ヶ月の計2回、ホステルで働いたことがある。チェックイン／アウト、レンタル、朝食の準備、ツアーの勧め、洗濯の手伝い、部屋の準備などをしていました。
そして、大工やDIYの仕事もやってみたいです！いつか自分の家を建てたいから;)　アイルランドで1週間を過ごし、素晴らしい女が飼っている多くの動物と広大な敷地の世話を手伝った。
その上、先生になれるように、最近自分をチャレンジとしたいと思います:0

フランス語、英語、スペイン語が流暢に話せるし、日本語も中級です。何年も独学で勉強し、お喋りクラブでも練習して、2023年12月に日本語能力試験N3に合格できるようにがんばります。Workawayerとして、人に頼られる存在になりたいので、何事にも勤勉で、何でも学ぶチャンスをつかむようにしている。

他には？趣味は読書・散歩やハイクに出ること・手仕事・友達と会話することです:) ８年前にヴェガんになって、実社会や夢の世界について人々の意見を聞くことも大好き。

Teaching sounds very fun and challenging ! I could teach French (mothertongue), English (fluent - mostly self taught) and Spanish (fluent - year abroad). I've been teaching myself languages so hopefully that's a start to teaching others, but I'd be glad to learn from you !

PAST WORKAWAY EXPERIENCES / 過去のワークアウェイの経験

January 2023 – CHILE – HOSTEL
I wanted another hostel experience after my great time in Sofia and got the chance to spend a little over a month in a pretty fancy hostel in Puerto Natales (Chilean Patagonia). I mostly helped with the trekking/camping equipment rental – welcoming customers, fetching what they needed, keeping track of it in accounting books, and managing the cash register. I also did some checks-in/out when the receptionist would leave in the evenings, and helped to prepare breakfast.

June 2021 - BULGARIA - HOSTEL
I spent one month in Sofia, Bulgaria working in a hostel in June 2021. Each volunteer had to take over the whole hostel during 5 hours long shifts, which allowed me to learn about reception work (check in/out, cash desk, recommending tours, and helping out guests in various ways). I also had to manage the hostel’s and guests’ laundry, prepare the beds, clean the kitchen/bathrooms etc.

August 2021 - IRELAND - FARM STAY
I spent roughly a week in Ireland, Leitrim County, helping an incredible woman named Valerie with her two horses, many cats, and vast property. It involved a lot of grass and brambles cutting, feeding and cleaning the horses, and some quad driving :)

２０２３年１月　ー　チリ　ー　ホステル
ソフィアで素晴らしい時後、別のホステルで働く経験が欲しくて、プエルトナタレス（チリのパタゴニア）にあるかなり豪華なホステルで一ヶ月強過ごす機会があった。主にトレッキング・キャンプ用品のレンタルと手伝ていました – お客様を迎えし、必要なものを探しに行き、会計帳簿に記録し、レジを管理していた。また受付係が夕方に出発する時にチェックイン/アウトしたり、朝食も準備ししました。

２０２１年６月　ー　ブルガリア　ー　ホステル
ソフィアで一ヶ月間ホステルで働きた。各ボランティアは５時間のシフトでホステル全体を担当する必要があり、受付係を学ぶことができた：チェックイン/アウト・レジを使う・ツアーをおすすめする・様々な形でお客様を手伝う。。。また、ホステルやゲストの洗濯、ベッドの準備、キッチン/バスルームの掃除などもしっていました。

2021年８月 　ー　アイルランド　 ー　農場
約１週間リートリム郡の素晴らしい出身のヴァレリーを手伝いた。馬の２頭、猫の４匹の世話をしたり、庭をきれいに保ったり、クワッドを運転した。
