Heya, we are two good friends who were exploring Sweden together!

Carina is a super happy nice and easy-going person that is currently studying Forestry and Landscape in Sweden and is looking forward to a memorable summer with Workaway!

Tony is a traveler that loves meeting people from all walks of life and sharing their experience here on our big blue planet..

Together we love helping out with all kind of tasks, from small projects to even just routine upkeep and maintenance.

We've brought with, and even collected along the way, a pretty fun set of skills through our experiences.

We have done lots of various farmwork here in Sweden and some building experience (chicken house and chicken tractors, remodeling interior mold damage, general maintenance - plumbing assistance, painting...etc...)

Carina is a great cooker (loves baking bread - saves a ton of money and tastes a million times better) and animal lover (experience in taking care of sheep, chickens, turkeys, quails).

Some recent experiences with our fabulous hosts include:

- daily net fishing
- bush and tree clearing
- painting
- house repairs
- sail boat repairs
- wooling (carding, spinning, knitting)
- minor plumbing
- grafting apple trees
- grafting tomato plants
- hauling and milling lumber
- small engine repair
- green house repair
- chicken house construction
- assisting with sheep care (shearing, medicating, sorting & transporting)
- chicken care (incubating, feeding, cleaning, egg collection.. etc..)
- pig, turkey, quail & rabbit husbandry too!
- fence repair and new installation
- building gates
- baking, baking, baking
- drywall repair
- sowing, planting, weeding, fertilizing, harvesting
- pruning, picking fruit, pressing juice, cider and wine making!!!
- shoveling manure

I stayed for one week at the animal shelter and had an amazing and eye-opening time taking care of the lovely dogs and cats. -The sweetest and most flxibel hardworking WA-girl!

Carina was our 2. Workawayer in 2023, and stayed here for 2 weeks, in mid May.

We heard from Carina on a saturday, had a skype sunday, when she was in Prague on a short trip. But she was very eager to come and help out w all that we had to offer, so she arrived in Aalborg 4 days later,… read more ready to get started! And oh we were so happy to get some help from this girl, because Carina is really a super helper! She`s the type of person where you only have to tell how things are done 1 time, and then she gets it! REALLY NICE when your helper dont need to get instructions again and again! This was not just reg. work! Also the basic houserules, like how to clean up after her shower!! Carina set a new WA-standard for this!

Carina is VERY easy to host! She was on when we worked, and after work she just went for a walk in the forrest, was in her room or sad down and knitted outside, relaxing in the sun. Never in our way. Its like she instinctively knows when you need some time off, so she do her own thing when she`s not needed around. Dont know if its because she does this to be nice, but she`s never in your way. But in this small household, we see it as a VERY good quality for a WA to know when to step back for a bit, so we can recharge our hostbatteries;-) We dont know if this is because she has been traveling so much backpacking, but it seems to come very naturally to her!

Carina helped out w so many differet thing. We had to cut up the firewood, and this was the main job during her stay. 5 days of hard work in the sun, and then we were done. She is now our very favorite button-pusher nr 1! She quickly learned how it was done the easiest way w the machine.
She also did a lot of help in the garden w planting, watering and weeding, cleaning around the outside of the house, collecting "leftovers" from the horses, to the garden. She was always super positive and did everythig to perfection. We started every morning at 8 am w a walk in the forest w the horses. 3 horses and 3 people out in the forrest, some days we talked, other days we just took in the natur, listend to the birds singing. This was a mindblowing good start on the day. (Carina is very good w animals, so dont worry about giving her chores that involves animals, she will do fine, she`s very carring and softspoken but can also say NO when needed! )THEN home to coffe and breakfast. ( BTW Carina makes the best porridge, She even got Nynne started to eat breakfast this way!) And then off to work w whatever was on the schedule for the day. We changed some days around, so we worked in the weekends and she had some days of during the week instead, she was very flexibel w this.

At dinnertime we were all fully charged for some fun, and there were many many interresting talks about travels and life in generel. Carina has a plan on going to Iceland next year, so Nynne suggested to take the ferry from Denmark the Faroe Island and have a stop over there ( maby do a WA) and then go on from there to Iceland for a WA. So we hope this will happen next year - of course w a stop here first ;-)
Carina was very interest in where we had been travelling ( and of course we wanted to hear all about her trips as well), to learn about new places to go, so its was some very interesting talks about the world The big Atlas was often on the table, so we all could point out places to go. Naturally this girl wanted to see some more of Denmark and she got to see the westcoast, Skagen and Aalborg on days of. We all had some fine times on some of these trips, when we all went together. Its great to host someone who really is interetsted in what you show and tell them.
There were of couse also a lot of sarcasm, laughter and jokes flying around, both during work and around the dinnertable. Carina is a fun girl w a great sence of humor! She fitted right in the household- also on this account!
Carina wanted to cook for us, so she made a SUPER good curry dish one evening. Very very good, and we got the recipe, so it`s here stay and be cooked many times, when we miss her to much!
She is not picky about her food. Eat what`s on the plate and loved to try new danish dishes, so no problem there either!
All in all, this was a super nice and very easy WA expirience on every level!

Dearst Carina! Thank you so much for comming by so spontaneously w your good spirit, when we needed you the most! We had such a great time hosting you! Your smile, laughter and jokes are in our hearts forever and we will miss you until the day you return again, on you next big journey towards Iceland! Dont you DARE try to sneek up there without stopping by here on your trip!
You are now a member of our family- you know what that CAN includes by now;-)
We wish you the best of luck w your organic farming education and really hoped that we learned you a few tricks, here in our little paradise, to use in your bright bright future! We can`t wait to see what happens the next time you feel like being spontanious- But we will forever hope it includes a stopover here! THANKS FOR ALL YOU DID!

P.s. Just so you know, there is NO sarcasem in this, because Soren is at work;-) And next time you and I will do the 2. hands again, there are many more to see, isent that just lovely to know? And ohh.... You dont need to bring yarn from Germany next time around...as you know, I know a place or two;-)

My stay at Julia's was amazing! :) She is a super kind, welcoming and inviting host and I got invited to different activities with her and her friends. So the exchange is great. The work on the farm and with the animals is very rewarding, easy to manage and fun :)
