I am a PhD student living in Leeds, UK studying environmental science. I have previously lived in Hong Kong for a year, where I did a lot of travelling. During this year, I did two workaways in Indonesia (teaching English), and in Taiwan (working in a youth hostel), and found them to be some of the most meaningful and memorable experiences of my life.

Ben is a really friendly and nice guy. He was really helpful and want to provide help. He is willing to go extra mile. He even offer help with no accommodation exchange when he came back to pick up his baggage!! He works very hard and speak Chinese! We are all really impressive by his good attitude. The hostel: I stayed at the hostel for just over two weeks, and wish it could have been much longer! The hostel is perfectly positioned in Tamsui, with an overwhelming amount of great food and drink options nearby. It is less than an hour away from the centre of Taipei, so pretty convenient for day trips, while having a bit more of a laid back… read more

Ben is a friendly helpfull young man.
He was flexible and first he did excavation work with my son.
In the garden he did all the different work that needs to be done.
It was interesting to talk with him about travelling and experiences in other countries and much else! He even cooked for us a delicious vegetarian curry.

I had a great week staying with Renate in May. I felt extremely welcome and well looked after by Renate, her son, and her friends. Her house is so beautiful, full of interesting objects and books. I had a whole floor to myself at the top of the house, with a bathroom, so the stay felt very luxurious. The gardening work is enjoyable, and pretty… read more
