Hello! I'm Alice from Taiwan

I recently left my job as a junior doctor and decided to take a gap year to do a working holiday in New Zealand.

My love for exploring the world started during medical school when I had the opportunity to be an exchange student in Finland. That experience opened my eyes to different cultures and inspired me to keep traveling and learning from people around the world.

Since then, I've traveled solo to many places, including Spain, India, and Mexico, and I've really fallen in love with this way of exploring. I enjoy connecting with local people, hearing their stories, and experiencing everyday life from a local perspective.

Also, I've hosted travelers a few times while at home. It’s a great way to open my eyes without even leaving the house, haha!

A few years ago, I joined a Workaway project in Spain, where I helped take care of a 5-year-old boy. He was such a cutie—even though I couldn't understand much of what he was saying most of the time! It was a wonderful experience and gave me a deeper understanding of local family life and culture.

In my free time (which wasn't much while working in the hospital ;)), I love hiking and spending time in nature with friends and family. I was also a member of the Alpine Club during university, so mountains have always had a special place in my heart.

That's actually one of the biggest reasons I chose New Zealand for my gap year—the incredible nature! 🌿🏔️ I can't wait to explore more beautiful places, meet new people, and create meaningful experiences along the way.

I’m a medical graduate and former PGY1 junior doctor from Taiwan, currently taking a gap year to explore. I love cultural exchanges—I previously spent a month as an au pair in Spain through Workaway. I’m open to any new experience, eager to learn, and always happy to cook some simple Chinese food!
