  • Descripción

My name is Akira and my wife is Yuki. We left Japan in August 2025 and are traveling around the world. Our home in Japan is Kanazawa, a city with a rich history, traditional culture, and performing arts. My wife, Yuki, worked in a hotel, and I owned a small cafe. The name of my cafe is Kissa Glider (You can find my cafe's Instagram account at https://www.instagram.com/kissa_glider and Google Maps at https://maps.app.goo.gl/vB5CtCBm22rVsnFp9?g_st=ipc.) In recent years, Kanazawa has attracted tourists from many countries (and of course, from within Japan as well). Through our daily lives and work, we convey the charms of Kanazawa and Japan to visitors, and we take great joy in the cultural exchange that occurs when visitors learn about the cultures of their hometowns. My wife, Yuki, has stayed with hosts in Arkansas, USA, taken a working holiday in Canada, and traveled to South America and Southeast Asia. I traveled around the world for about nine months in 2014. On this trip, I would like to not only visit various countries and regions, but also learn about the work, culture, and lifestyle of each country through WorkAway, and also want to tell you about Japanese people.

  • Que habilidades tienes?

Yuki has worked in hotels for many years, not only handling front desk duties and room cleaning, but also working as a concierge, engaging in in-depth conversations with each guest and proposing customized sightseeing plans. As a chief, she also contributed to improving the training of her department and customer satisfaction.

I have gained experience as a serviceman at a hotel restaurant and an Italian restaurant in Japan, and owned a national and sommelier qualification for restaurant service in Japan. After that, I became independent as the owner of a small cafe. The interior of the cafe was done by my wife and I at D.I.Y. The expert knowledge and technique of the service may not be useful in the work-away, but I hope that I can help my hosts by making use of my experiences in my life.

  • Algo más...

My hobbies are listening to music and exercising. In 2014, I cycled across the Netherlands to Ukraine. Until a few years ago, I was also a serious athlete, playing ultimate martial arts (a sport using a flying disc) and running marathons. I would like to do a lot of physical work and activities. Yuki loves to eat. She not only wants to try local and home-cooked cuisine from various countries, but also wants to try cooking it and selecting ingredients at local markets.
