I'm David, a 29-year-old who's been travelling around Southeast Asia for the past three months — mainly Thailand — with my partner. I live near Barcelona, Spain, and I have degrees in Criminology and Law (I work as a lawyer back home).

I'm passionate about travelling, and whenever I get the chance I love exploring new places. Right now, I'm fulfilling my dream of travelling through Southeast Asia.

I'm vegetarian and a big animal lover. I have a dog, Gaia, and every day I try to escape to the mountains to go for a walk with her. I’m really into nature and the outdoors, and I enjoy activities like camping or sleeping in my campervan in the mountains. I’m also into adventure sports, especially canyoning.

Helping others makes me happy, and I love getting involved in any project or social activity that can have a positive impact. I enjoy meeting new people and being surrounded by good vibes.

I’m Maria, a 29-year-old who’s been travelling around Southeast Asia for the past three months — mainly Thailand — with my partner. I live near Barcelona, Spain, and I have degrees in Early Childhood Education and Pedagogy (in Spain I work as an educational therapist in clinical centres and as a secondary and sixth-form teacher).

I’m passionate about travelling and I’ve had the opportunity to explore and visit many different places around the world, enriching myself with every culture and making new friends along the way.

I’m an animal lover, a nature lover, and especially a sea lover. I’m really into water sports, and I enjoy the beach most when it’s quiet and I can go for a walk or watch the sunset. I love reading and I also enjoy writing.

Both professionally and personally, I love getting involved with people — helping, teaching, and, whenever I can, building a strong network to try to make the world a better place.

We’d like to practise and improve our English (even though we have an upper-intermediate level that allows us to understand and communicate without any problem). We’d also be happy to keep learning and strengthening other languages (Italian for Maria, and French for David). Maria is a Spanish and Catalan teacher, so she can teach both languages professionally.

David,

In my professional life, I’m a lawyer. Throughout my career, I’ve developed strong teamwork skills and adaptability to change, and I consider myself someone with initiative, critical thinking and creativity.

Over the years, I’ve worked in several customer-facing roles, such as a receptionist in an amusement park, a clothing and leisure sales assistant, and I also have a bit of experience in hospitality.

I really enjoy hands-on work such as construction, DIY and gardening. Even though I don’t have specific professional experience in these areas (beyond various projects I’ve done at home), I think I’m good at them and I learn quickly.

I also have experience in customer service, and I consider myself a kind, respectful and empathetic person.

Having grown up surrounded by animals — together with my love for them — has also given me some experience in animal care.

Professionally, I’m a pedagogue. Throughout my career, I’ve developed strong teamwork skills, conflict resolution abilities, and I’ve handled complex situations that required empathy and a sense of responsibility.

I’ve worked in hospitality, in event management for both adults and children, and across all areas of education, both public and private (including re-education and rehabilitation centres, clinical assessments for educational development, and as a teacher in a semi-private school).

For many years, I’ve worked in the non-formal education and leisure sector, leading projects aimed at children: managing and developing events, leading teams and training sessions, creating educational materials and activities, and continuously developing strategies to promote more inclusive education.

I love working in a team, doing hands-on tasks, working with children and animals, and I’m a big fan of cooking and exploring different cuisines from around the world. I’m not an expert, but I’m very interested and I learn quickly.
