Hello from Haida Gwaii, formerly the Queen Charlotte Islands!
Our little house is almost 100 years old and could use some help with interior painting, shop organization, yard work, or structural work such as rebuilding fences and shelving!.
We are looking for independent, hardworking people who know how to do interior house painting and can be self-directed (we need a couple of windows replaced, and a fence built) and have experience with taking care of houses.
We are working, self-employed artists who work hard, and stick to ourselves. We are part of a large Haida family.
We eat mostly the food we have hunted or gathered - fish, deer, lamb, kelp, sea asparagus. We cannot cook for special diets as this is a small, rural region and the food here is "whatever is available".
We live in a small town with limited, simple, groceries, a hardware store, a gas station, and 1-3 restaurants, depending on the time of year. It is very isolated and beautiful. The town is a 20-minute walk in, and 20 minutes out. We live right on the ocean.
We have a private upstairs area with a cute little washroom with a tub. You can see the ocean from your window.Tipos de ayuda y oportunidades de aprendizaje

Haida Gwaii is one of the most remote places on the planet. The biodiversity here is endless.
It's mostly outdoorsy people. The community is a mixture of Haida and non-indigenous people, a lot of very interesting folk who are not interested in cities.
This is a fishing and nature community that is physically remarkable, ocean-bound, has lots of rivers, and lots of things to do if you love the natural world!Ayuda
Carpentry, creating shelving, interior painting, gardening, wood pile, landscaping, fence building, yard cleanup, shop organization. We live in a very abundant territory and the garden grows fast!!

I speak French and abit of Spanish, rusty right now as I am using only English. I would love to have a french or Spanish speaker here so I could practice those languages and help the person out with English. I speak only a few key phrases of my indigenous language (Onkwehonkwe) and would welcome a Haudenausaune speaker here to learn from. Also my ancestral languages are Dutch and German, which I would also like to learn.Alojamiento

Time off here is the natural world. We are close to incredible hikes, rivers and campgrounds. There are no movie theatres and stuff like that here, but there are a handful of little restaurants, and good grocery stores. Lots of artists here too.
