Descripción
I am a scientist, author, grandmother, sometimes an activist and now running a very small market garden to increase food security on this beautiful island. I have lived in the wilderness for most of my life, but moved to this island with roads and a ferry. I have a big research project this summer and while I will be on the property most of the time, I need help with watching my dog when I need to go away for a few days and help harvesting and weeding. I have a market stand beside the garden that needs to be kept stocked.

This island was settled by Finnish people and some of that heritage still exists, there is a museum. A nearby island connected by ferry is a First Nation community with a museum and strong traditions.

Ayuda
I am looking for a person/people who would enjoy helping me harvest the gardens to keep the market stand stocked and help with watering/weeding. As well, looking for help dog sitting a few days at a time. I am looking for people who are kind, fair, careful and like garden work.

Alojamiento
The accommodation is a tiny house built into a large truck. It is a beautiful space all natural wood, a tiny woodstove and a propane cookstove. The property is off grid (solar) so power use is limited, no hair dyers for example, but laptops are fine. The water supply is limited, showers/laundry are in town. Drinking water also comes from town, same as in the main house. There is an outhouse. The quarters are comfortable with a double bed, a sleeping loft, table and counters. There are lots of fresh vegetables available. This is a small island of about 700 residents. The town is 20 km away down a well maintained dirt road. There is a post office, a good small market, a cafe (only open for breakfast and lunch). There is a ferry that runs to the island every few hours that connects to Vancouver Island. I live on the property as well. There are lovely neighbours and quick access to the beach where whales are frequently visible all summer and fall.

Algo más...
This area is a tourist destination. People come here to see whales, fish for salmon, kayak, camp and bike. Town is 20 minutes away by car down a well-maintained dirt road. The community is friendly. The island is ringed with cobblestone beaches. Sea otters, seals, eagles, sea lions are easily visible from the beach.
