Well where do we start....Our boat....... Sandra (the 1st mate a professional Chief Stewardess for the rich and famous) and Steve (A marine engineer/Captain) happened upon this mighty vessel laying rusting in the Tiber looking a little sorry for herself in during our worldwide quest for the ideal adventure ship. One hazy evening moons ago an idea formed (possibly influenced by some wine) to buy a worthy vessel affordable within our means...and come hell or high water using our skills make her the finest vessel to grace the seven seas..A foolhardy plan one may admit...but a bloody good idea nonetheless.
Well now we have her...what to do what to do...or more realistically what not to do.
Stage 1....fix her.
Stage 2....initially we planed to sail her around world as a charter vessel.
Our ideas have evolved, seeing the world wake up to the crisis we are faced and now being parents to two young lads we have decided to do our bit for the planet and focus on efforts into becoming a citizen science ship helping to educate the next generation about the effects, consequences and solutions in dealing with our changing climate.
A huge part of what we do now, is documenting our progress as we work, get the boat ready, live our day to day lives and prepare for the missions ahead.
Who do we need?...obvious skills are boatbuilders, carpenters, engineers, painters (the list of boat jobs goes on) however...one thing to consider...5-6 people in a small space...cooking, cleaning and general upkeep come top of the pile as far as skills go. Our two sons 5 and 7 also need folks around who would be happy to interact with them in their day to day activities on and off the boat. They are really easy going and quite well "trained" so they don't need a nanny as such, but if you have skills to pass on, like reading, building stuff, playing and all other things wee boys like, they'd love to hang out with you.
Hugely desirable attributes currently would be film making/editing, column writing (to help us document it all).
Dedication & Aspiration...Ladies and Gentlemen....We could say hey...workaway stipulates 5 hours a day. This is a little different...sure you might be working dusk to dawn being shown how to get the perfect finish on a piece of timberwork, you might carry on into the wee small hours learning the true meaning of splicing the mainbrace....however you will also take some valuable skills from that experience learning from your fellow work-awayers and the regular procession of skilled professionals we have spending time on-board, you will be proud of what you achieved and a feeling of genuine satisfaction in a job well done and a skill well learnt is something money can't buy...that said it's not all work and no play.... you are becoming a sailor...everyone knows sailors have more fun than most, all work and no play....you know the rest!
We are not sailing at the moment, she is currently hauled out of the water at a shipyard in Monastir Tunisia repairing some parts of the hull and repainting before we re-launch her. This being the case we have rented a villa nearby which has a separate annex where any work-awayers joining us would live. For the adventurous this is an opportunity not to be missed. Monastir is a sleepy fishing town south of the tourist Meccas of Sousse and Hamamnet. There are some nice beaches within walking distance, the medeival Medina to explore and has a bustling North African style vibe. Many worry about personal safety...in all honesty you are most probably safer here than in any big European city, people are friendly and helpful. As the tourist industry is so big the authorities wont tolerate any bad or dangerous behaviour and are ever present, and as long as you are respecting their laws and customs...the most interaction you will have with them is a friendly chat.
Please please please feel free to get in touch. We wish I could say yay to every request, and will try to take as many people on as practicably possible.
We look forward to hearing from you all and we look forward to meeting as many of you as we can.

She is a boat...the list of marine professional skills which she could enjoy in her refit is almost endless. If Port & Starboard are terms you remember from pirates of the Caribbean you will leave us with more nautical terms than you could shake a tiller at.

We have 3 spare cabins on board, two twins and one four berth crew cabin. Take your pick before joining the rest of the crew for dinner in the crew mess.
Algo más...
We are just a few kilometres form Rome Fiumicino airport in a quaint traditional Italian family Tiber river shipyard. The nearest Roman ruins are less than a kilometre away, the Romans spend their weekends in the beach at the end of our road, and if you want to hit the colloseum a quick walk, 5 minutes on the bus 20 minutes (ish) on the metro and you are there.
