I have two bedrooms available the rest of September due to last minute cancellations.
My name is Moa, I am 36 years old and I have gone and bought myself a hundred year old brick house that used to be the village Östra Ljungby's school in Skåne. It's going to be my life long project and these first years I hope to bring it back to its old glory. I moved into the house in April and will be able to accomodate travellers from the beginning of May. I live here alone with my cat and 13 chickens.
I wanted to buy a big house to be able to host travellers as I can't go travel myself all the time, trying to make the world come to me sort of. I have a travel/urban design blog that I started a few months ago where I combine my two passions travelling and urban design. I work as an urban designer with placemaking, social sustainability and street art at the Urban Planning Department in Helsingborg.

There is so much to see in this region depending on your preferences. I can show you the best flea markets/thrift shops, cafées to have Swedish fika, nature trails, shopping, gardens and parks and castles. Medieval and viking history, whatever you want ;-) I have bikes you can borrow to go exploring on your own as well.
In Sweden we don't go out and eat a lot in restaurants, we share a meal together at home with family or friends. So a lot of cultural exchange happens in the kitchen and around dinner time where all types of discussions between heaven and earth happens. We will cook together or share responsibilities of the meals. I love cooking and cook both vegetarian and with meat. Another important meal in Sweden is breakfast (it's the most important meal they say), my specialty is real healthy Swedish porridge or Sweidsh processed sour milk with granola/muesli and berries. And when it's not time for food, it's always time for fika. If you are up for it, we can try all sorts of Swedish cookies/cakes and bake them too.
In 2023 I will have a new kitchen garden and we can start making food from scratch, but already in autumn I suspect there will be a lot of apples to preserve as juice, vinegar, jam and dried.
You will get the chance to learn about traditional building styles and techniques, refurbishing furniture and gardening. My house was built in 1919-1920 in a National Romantic style, inspired by the German and Danish movement, made from the best materials at the time. My goal is to bring it back, room by room to a more time appropriate interior and with traditional techniques. I hope to be able to accomodate your interests when volunteering here and what you want to learn, based on your skill level. I especially hope to be able to inspire other women to pick up tools and learning new skills.
I work as an urban designer with placemaking and social sustainability for the City of Helsingborg, my hometown. I also work with the Helsingborg's Street Art festival ArtstreetHBG and can show you all the cool street art in the city.
Any extra hands when I renovate the house would be very helpful. Helping out and taming the wild garden. The house was abandoned for a couple of years and was neglected for the past 10 years, so whatever you are interested in learning about renovation, gardening and DIY, you can do it here :-)
There will also be a ton of DIY projects as I love renovating old furniture and to build things myself. I need some smaller fun projects to do around the house as a break from the bigger heavier ones.
I am not going to do a lot in the garden to start with but it need some taming, the garden is huge and I don't want it to grow wilder than it already is so there is some work to do here.
I am also planning to do weekly reno vlogs and could really use some help with editing videos and help me learn Premier Pro.

I speak English and Norwegian and of course Swedish. I want to practise Spanish and French.
There are at the moment three private bedrooms with a queen sized beds in each and one shared bathroom. And just to be clear, the house is in a renovation state and haven't been updated since the 80s. And half of the house is being teared apart so it's not a "finished-decorated-pretty-looking" house just yet :-)

There are nice beaches and hiking trails all over this region.
It's possible to do day and weekend trips to Copenhagen, Louisiana Museum in Denmark, Malmö, beautiful Österlen, Kullabygden with Höganäs and Kullaberg and Gothenburg.
Closest bus stop is 1 km away and takes you to Helsingborg in 35 minutes, leaving once to twice an hour from early morning to 9 P.M. on weekdays (later on Friday and Saturday evenings).
