Descripción
Hello from Umbria! We are an Italian-French family: a couple in our early forties and our very active, curious and friendly 5-year-old son. We live in a house with a large garden, olive trees and a swimming pool in the countryside near Amelia, a hilltop town about 1.5 hours from Rome, where we often go.
This is our first time hosting, and we’re excited about it. The property changes with the seasons. Spring and summer mean a green garden, lavender and a pool to look after and enjoy. In autumn comes the olive harvest, and in winter the pruning. We spend a lot of time outdoors and love sharing it with people who enjoy a simple, hands-on life.
We both work from home, so there’s always someone around. Many evenings end up outside, chatting at a long table in the garden. -

Intercambio cultural y oportunidades de aprendizaje
If you love nature, you’ll be immersed in an authentic rural setting in one of Italy’s most beautiful hilly regions. You’ll learn how an olive grove, a garden and a pool are looked after through the year, and you can join the harvest and the pruning.
If you love art and history, we’ll encourage you to use your free time to visit Rome, Perugia, Assisi, Orvieto, Narni, Todi and the many smaller villages of Umbria.
People here are friendly, kind and curious about visitors. If you’d like to practise Italian, you’ll easily find the chance. We speak Italian and French at home, and we’re happy to exchange languages with you. -

Ayuda
We’re welcoming Workawayers for the first time! In exchange for a helping hand around our home, mainly in the garden, we offer independent accommodation in our guesthouse.
We offer 1 meal a day in exchange for 4hrs per day (20hrs/week) help.
What you’ll help with (it changes with the seasons):
- Spring: tidying the garden, mowing, light pruning, planting lavender, rosemary and other aromatic plants, and getting the pool ready for the season.
- Summer: mowing and trimming, watering, looking after the potted plants and regular pool maintenance (net, pool robot, filter checks). If we’re away for a few days, we may also ask for house and cat sitting.
- Autumn: the olive harvest. We spread nets under the trees and pick by hand, then sort and bag the olives together. It’s the most tiring and the most fun time of the year. This is also the season for edge trimming and for tidying the garden before winter.
- Winter: pruning and clearing around the olive trees, collecting and burning cuttings, looking after tools and paths, and small jobs around the house.
- All year round: DIY help with small repairs and home improvement projects, depending on what needs doing.
Who we’re looking for: reliable, kind and independent people who are comfortable with outdoor physical work and enjoy family life. A driving licence and transportation is highly recommended, since we’re in the countryside.
If this sounds like a good fit, we’d love to hear from you! In your message, tell us when you’d like to come and ask what tasks we have on hand for that period, and we’ll tell you what’s on the list. It would also help to know which jobs you enjoy or have experience with. -

Alojamiento
The location
We’re in Amelia, a few kilometres from the ancient old town and surrounded by the green hills typical of Umbria. The area is quiet and rural, so you’ll need your own transport to get around.
The house
We live in a large house with a garden, olive grove and swimming pool, in a beautiful and peaceful landscape. You’ll have your own independent triple bedroom and private bathroom with kitchenette. We would also offer shared meals in the evenings. -
Algo más...
Free time: weekends are yours. You’re welcome to relax by the pool in summer, explore the hill towns, or take day trips to Rome (about 1.5 hours away).
Getting around: we’re in the countryside, so you’ll need your own means of transport (driving required). Nearest train station is Orte with direct connection to Rome, Florence, Bologna, Milan, etc
Please note: we are a family with a young child, so we’re looking for someone who enjoys a friendly, relaxed household. -
