We live in a quiet residential house in Vancouver, British Columbia. We are a professional couple (university professor/instructors in psychology and conservation) with an outgoing 11 year old daughter. We live in a 3 bedroom house. We have 2 rabbits and some fish. We are looking for someone to help teach my daughter Japanese. She speaks Japanese but I am looking for someone who is great with children and happy to speak with my daughter and do some writing/kanji with her. We are walking distance to shops and close to major bus routes. We are also looking for someone to help us keep our house clean, do some light yard work and perhaps make some meals.

We know this area and especially the nature around this area very well and could recommend hikes and outdoor activities. If you would like, we often go on hikes on the weekends that you could join us on. Our friends are quite multi-cultural and so you would meet "Canadians" but perhaps a very diverse group of Canadians. Both of us have travelled extensively, I have studied about 7 languages (Japanese, French, Spanish, Thai, Vietnamese, Ladakhi, Mandarin) at some point in my life and have conducted research/lived in in Southeast Asia, East Asia, Mexico, South America, UK and Australia and so we are generally comfortable with different ways of being. Culturally we are left-leaning-west-coast-outdoorsy-composting-mostly-vegetarian-health-conscious-environmentalist-educated-inclusive-LGBT+friendly and social-justice advocate-types. You don't have to share all these same values, but there are aspects of our house-hold that reflect these values (we don't eat meat, we don't have a television [though we have internet], we recycle, try not to waste thing, spend a lot of time outdoors, attend social justice events, and try to participate as little as we can with consumer culture). We are excited to have the opportunity to meet people from different cultures and especially excited for you to enrich our daughter's world.

We are looking for someone who can speak Japanese to my daughter. Thus at this point we are only looking for native Japanese speakers. In addition, we are looking for people who may be willing to help with pick-up or drop-off at school (by walking), general cleaning and gardening and cooking.
Mostly, the ideal person would be a fluent Japanese speaker who loves to work with kids (have patience and interest), be hard-working and enjoy animals and gardening and have competency in the kitchen.
We are looking for someone who is mature, with life experience, who has lived on their own and preferably over the age of 20.
Because of the flexibility offered by online work, we may be away for a few days here and there. In those cases, it would be great if the workaway could house-sit for us and take care of our pets/house while we are away.Idiomas

We are really interested in a Japanese person supporting my daughter's Japanese.Alojamiento
We have a full-sized bedroom inside the house for you. Our house is not huge and so this work-away (and this room!) will only work for a single person. Also, we have 2 rabbits and so if you have rabbit allergies, this probably isn't a good option for you. They are contained but their fur travels.
We usually order our groceries online. We could eat dinner together and breakfast together. Lunch you could fix something on your own with the food we have. We could take turns making dinner. Everyone in our family eats a different type of breakfast but we are usually in the same room together.
There is no typical work week, but our daughter's schedule would be that she wakes up at about 7:30 am, has breakfast and practices her violin and then walks to school. It is a 10 minute walk.
We are currently both working and teaching from home and so during the day, the house needs to stay reasonably quiet.
We don't have a television but the wireless is good enough for you to watch things on your laptop in your room. We limit my daughter's screen time a lot and so we ask that you watch things on our laptop in your room when she isn't around or is asleep.Algo más...
Our household is generally quite quiet. We work from home a lot. There aren't a lot of parties or anything as our daughter's bedtime is about 8:30 pm. When we are at home we are usually hanging out together in the garden with our animals or doing work on our computers. We also have small groups of friends over for dinner. We go for walks a lot as there is a beautiful forest/lake just a 5 minute walk from our house. There are also beaches just an 8 minute walk away and so in the summer we go for little dips in the ocean or just go down to the beach to look for rocks. If it is sunny we are hiking or going for bike rides or going snowshoeing. On rainy weekend days we often head to the city and go see friends or do urban things like go to art or music events or just go out to eat Asian food. Our daughter is learning violin and so she will usually be practicing violin once a day and some times in the mornings (she is not a beginner though and so you don't have to worry about it sounding awful, it generally sounds beautiful but it is sometimes early in the morning).
On your time off, you can go for walks in this area and enjoy the city.
Mostly we are looking for someone who is conscientious, efficient, hard-working, detail-oriented and considerate. We also need someone who will be relatively quiet in the evenings. I'm sorry but no-smokers and no heavy drinkers (we don't drink at all, but if you want to drink a glass of wine over dinner that is fine). This is suitable for a single person (with no pets). Also given how busy we are during the weekdays, we need someone who is mature, independent and self-sufficient who is able to hit the ground running and help out as needed.Un poco más de información
