We are a family with Alex (20) who is studying podiatry (he commutes some days to the city) and works part time at the local supermarket and loves to play volleyball. Belle (18) who is living in Wellington study at French at university but will be home working as a tour guide (Oct-Feb) except when she is away in Vietnam in November. She speaks French. Matt (55) an architect who works for home and me (55) who works in HR and commutes on a 35 minute ferry most days to the city. You will have the constant company of 4 cats (Stuart, Gary, Bess and Elvie) who rule the house, including demanding access to every room so if you don’t like cats or are allergic, this isn’t right for you. Our house is spacious and near the beach. We built 5 years ago but some parts are still unfinished and the native garden somewhat unruly. We love to cook.

We have movie nights most Saturday nights. We’re not really drinkers, but love food.

Given our passion for food, we will help you to understand NZ culture through food, providing traditional meals. We also speak limited Te Reo if you are interested in learning some of our indigenous language. Our garden is entirely native so you can learn about NZ plants plus it’s full of native birds from the noisy Tui and Kaka to the gentle Kereru and cheeky Piwakawaka.

  • Ayuda

    Ayuda

Help mostly with gardening and weeding plus general help around the house (maybe a bit of cleaning and even some painting if you’re into it). We all pitch in but mostly Matt who also works from home.

Our happiest workaways in the past have been couples (or two friends) who are happy to get into the garden and do their work (or do some cleaning) and then go off and explore the island. We can drop you and help show fun places to go. We’ve also had workaways at the end of their travel that just want to do some work and then relax at the beach or at home and that’s fine too.

    Alojamiento

One large double room with own toilet and shower. Could put in an extra bed if not a couple. Clean and modern.

We will feed you! Breakfast and lunch will mostly be help yourself, and we will cook dinners for you. You are welcome to be the kitchen helping if that interests you. We can accommodate vegetarians but would struggle if you are vegan because we love cheese!

    Algo más...

No smokers. Google Waiheke Island if you want to see where we are. Lots of social activities on the island plus beautiful walks and beaches to discover. Think about anything you would like to do and let us know. We are generally pretty quiet. 35 minute ferry ride to Auckland CBD. It is expensive to get to and from Waiheke though.
