Descripción
We are a queer couple and mums to a wonderful 9 year old son. We have 2 loving hypoallergenic dogs.
My wife is originally from northern England and has lived here now about 15 years. I am originally from the east coast of canada but grew up mostly on the west coast.
We live in a rural location righton the ocean with access to both the ocean and beautiful mountain trails from our doorstep. We are 10 minutes from squamish bc and 40 minutes from vancouver by car. We need help with some childcare and housekeeping while I have gone back to school this year and have less time to help with this. -

Intercambio cultural y oportunidades de aprendizaje
In our house we enjoy listening to folk music, baking and cooking, getting crafty, watching movies, and reading. We have lots of musical instruments and would love it if you ever wanted to play any! James is in French immersion at school and would also love an exchange with someone who spoke French or Spanish in particular and perhaps would be interested in teaching us some too! We have lived in britannia beach bc around 11 years now. We live in a small tight knit community where you can get to know everyone. Many people who live here are outdoor enthusiasts who may enjoy various sports including rock climbing, mountain biking, trials bikes, building trails, hiking, kayaking, paddleblarding, and many more!

Ayuda
As we only have a small room to offer vs a full suite, we would only ask for around 10 hours per week of help spread out over 3 or 4 evenings during the week to help with picking our son up from his after school art class in squamish and bringing him home, then helping to get him organized for the next day, possibly helping to cook dinner and/or to help tidy up the house, and/or helping to get our son ready for bed, and/or walking the dogs at night. We could discuss together what works best with the hours agreed upon.

Yes we would love to learn and practice French and or Spanish!! We would be happy to practice English with you if you are hoping to learn or practice- in a conversational way vs a formal way! -
Alojamiento
We live in a 3 bedroom plus den ranch style single level home with a separate basement suite we rent out. The spare room in our home that we would offer to the workawayer is very small and has a double bed that you need a small ladder to get up Into, so that you can store things below the bed. There is a window and lots of natural light. There is a small closet and we can add or take out other furniture to your liking. Right now we also use it as a home office so there is a desk and filing cabinet in the room. However these can be removed and we can put in a chair and dresser if you would prefer for example.
We would also offer all your meals and always have fully stocked cupboards fridge and freezer. We would discuss in further details how meals would work best for each individual workawayer. -
Algo más...
We would need someone who is able to drive and if you don't have your own car, would be able to drive ours to help with childcare pick ups and drop offs. There is no public transit to and from squamish or the city from our village but there is private buses, pop a ride, taxis, we go daily to and from squamish and jen goes regularly to the city for work and we often will go on a weekend day to the city and happy to provide transportation on these days. We can also lend one of our cars on days we don't both need to use them (especially the weekends)
There is always lots to do if you like being in nature! And for more nightlife activities vancouver is not far away too. However there are also a few options for nightlife in squamish and even 2 bars here in the village and just a 10 minute walk down the hill from our home. -

Cell reception can at times be temperamental but I also do some of my work from home and have been able to make it work by moving around the home to get good reception. Internet works fine, especially from spare room and shared spaces. It is only in our bedroom and den that it sometimes is less strong.

Espacio para aparcar autocaravanas
We have a space that could be used to park a small camper and may be able to offer a plug in but would not have the ability to deal with sewage. We would have a hose in the yard for water.
