Hello. I have been a “ Workawayer “ for many years, You can Check on my profile here ....
User name; thaner
I now have the opportunity to give back to the Workaway community and strive to be the best host ever!!!
Just a little about myself....besides what is written on my individual account. There must be a way to merge them, but I haven’t figured that out yet.
I am new to Quebec, (3 weeks). And live on the outside of a town called Sainte Agathe des-monts. from central Canada Originally and had been travelling full time for the past 4 years. I don’t know really how this came to be, I’ve decided to settle down for a while, I bought an old farmhouse with several acres of land.
It was owned by one of the original families in the area which the street is named after. The old woman passed away last year and she lived in the home for all her life. There is some history here, as she used to date our late prime minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau. The family used to operate a horse and buggie taxi service for the wealthy vacationers from Montreal, just to give you some history.
Long story short, this house and land has loads of potential and I would like to create a more of an eco friendly home and acreage. My plan is to Fully renovate The house and barn making it an art space, but right now a lot of cleaning and tidying up because the place had been vacant for 2 years and the family kept everything they ever owned.

I have travelled for the last 4 years and can share stories and experiences of using Workaway and other platforms as a travel tool. Learn English and help me learn French.
Meet a Real Canadian and learn about Quebec Canada and about A small town in the Laurentian mountains.
Besides meeting a like minded traveller, with a million stories being told by a professional storyteller? Come learn how to renovate an old house.
There are many things here to keep busy, and I assure you the help will not be difficult and You will be able to work at your own pace. There are a lot of garbage (old metals, tin and such) in the forest, this was used as a dumping ground as it was the norm in the early 1900s. I would like to clean some of this up. I am somewhat of a handyman, so an extra set of hands would be great.
I purchased the house complete with everything included, which is a lot of treasures for nostalgia and art. I haven’t even looked in the barn yet as there is a lot hiding in there.

Firstly, You get to be in the Laurentian mountains in a magical place, Le petite du nord is a nearby bike path (I have bicycles) connects the communities of Val David, Val Morin and Sainte Agathe, and all the way to mount trembant. Walking distance to town as well.
Accommodations are basic, your own room to make your own space, internet and laundry. Also lots of space park Trailer or van, there is an outdoor shower and indoor bath.
Food will be basic, Ive been eating on the go however I am Very good cook, so I’ve been told.
I wish I could offer some insight on the area, I am just leaning of things myself. Having said that, the towns are trendy and touristy and attracts a lot of people.
I am cautiously wading thru decisions regarding covid. I will not take any chances and am fairly isolated And feel safe and would like to keep it that way. If you believe that covid is a hoax or are lax in the Preventative measures this may not be the place for you.
