  Olá and hello!
  We, Johannes and Claudia, warmly welcome you here, a unique place in the green north of Portugal. Here, we are building a sustainable project focused on self-sufficiency, permaculture, and living with nature since 2023. Our wish is to create a place by people - for people. A place full of life, exchange, learning, and joy.
  
  This is not only a place for rural living and farming – it is also developing into a space for events. In the future, we would like to give external organizers the opportunity to hold seminars, workshops, small-scale arts, and cultural activities that bring new energy and inspiration to the countryside.
  
  There are three other people living here as well, whom you get to know during your stay. They support us alongside their own individual business.
  
  What We Do (and Why)
  We’re simply doing what makes sense to us – a way of living that feels more connected, honest, and meaningful than the city lives we left behind.
  
  At the moment, we’re in the process of building up the foundations: working the land, developing our gardens, and setting things up so we can live as self-sufficiently as possible.
  
  Our Place
  Our quinta is a peaceful 2.3-hectare property with sweeping views over a beautiful valley.
  It includes:
  - a large, charming mansion under renovation – the future space for workshops and retreats
  - a second building gives space for living
  - an improvised service building with two compost toilets, a hot shower, and a shared outdoor kitchen
  - the official outdoor kitchen is currently being renovated and still needs some time
  - a vegetable garden, mandala beds, and over 130 fruit and nut trees
  - a food forest
  - a flat parking area for vans and caravans
  - a camping site
  - washing machines and dryer
  - plenty of nature, silence, and starlit nights
  
  As accommodation, there is the option to camp, and depending on availability, we also offer a caravan and a small holiday apartment.
  
  Who's a good fit for us
  We welcome people with open hearts and energetic spirit. Whether you're skilled in crafts, enjoy gardening, have experience with permaculture – or simply want to learn new things and be part of a vibrant community: you are very welcome!
  
  You'll be a particularly good fit for us if you:
  enjoy working outdoors and hands-on
  are self-reliant, mindful, and flexible
  enjoy sharing meals, sharing experiences, and socializing
  are eager to be part of a place that's still being developed
  Languages:
  We speak German as our mother tongue and most of us also speak English.
  We learn portuguese.
  
  Type of exchange:
  Full board = sleeping and parking space + 3 vegetarian meals (lots of organic) per day.
  → max. 5 hours a day for 5 days a week.*
  
  Half board = sleeping and parking no meals.
  → max. 3 hours a day for 5 days a week
  
  *Families choosing full board will be asked to make an additional contribution (in the form of money or work) for the children's meals.

  Olá und hallo!
  Wir, Johannes und Claudia, heißen euch herzlich willkommen auf -, einem besonderen Ort im grünen Norden Portugals. Hier bauen wir seit 2023 ein nachhaltiges Projekt auf, das sich auf Selbstversorgung, Permakultur und ein Leben im Einklang mit der Natur konzentriert. Unser Ziel ist es, einen Ort von Menschen - für Menschen zu schaffen. Einen Ort voller Leben, Austausch, und Freude.
  
  - ist nicht nur ein Ort für Landleben und Landwirtschaft – es entwickelt sich auch zu einem Raum für Veranstaltungen. Wir möchten in Zukunft auch externe Veranstalter*innen die Möglichkeit geben - ob Seminare, Workshops, Kleinkunst oder kleine Festivals – wir freuen uns über Initiativen, die zu unserem Ort und unserer Ausrichtung passen.
  
  Es leben noch drei weitere Menschen hier, die ihr während eures Aufenthalts kennenlernen werdet. Sie unterstützen uns neben ihrem eigenen individuellen Business.
  
  Was wir tun – und warum
  Wir leben hier auf die Weise, wie es sich für uns richtig und sinnvoll anfühlt – als Gegenentwurf zum schnellen Stadtleben, das viele von uns vorher geführt haben.
  
  Derzeit sind wir dabei, die Grundlagen zu schaffen: Wir arbeiten auf dem Land, gestalten unsere Gärten und bauen alles so auf, dass wir möglichst unabhängig leben können – mit Permakultur, gesunden Lebensmitteln und regenerativen Strukturen.
  
  Unsere Quinta
  Unser Platz liegt eingebettet in die Hügel mit weitem Blick ins Tal – ein stiller, natürlicher Ort auf 2,3 Hektar, den wir mit viel Liebe gestalten.
  
  Dazu gehören:
  ein großes Herrenhaus (noch in Renovierung) – künftig Raum für Seminare und Begegnung
  ein zweites Gebäude, das als Wohnhaus dient
  ein improvisiertes Versorgungsgebäude mit zwei Komposttoiletten, heißer Dusche und Gemeinschaftsküche
  eine offizielle Außenküche, die derzeit renoviert wird
  ein großer Gemüsegarten, Mandalabeete und über 130 Obst- und Nussbäume
  ein junger Waldgarten (Food Forest)
  ein schöner Stellplatz für Vans und Wohnmobile
  Camping space
  Waschmaschinen und Trockner
  Natur, Ruhe – und klare Sternennächte
  
  Als Unterkunft gibt es die Möglichkeit zu zelten. Je nach Verfügbarkeit stellen wir außerdem einen Caravan und ein kleines Ferienapartment zur Verfügung.
  
  Wer zu uns passt
  Wir freuen uns über Menschen mit offenem Herzen und tatkräftiger Energie. Ob du handwerklich begabt bist, gern im Garten arbeitest, Erfahrung mit Permakultur hast – oder einfach Lust hast, Neues zu lernen und Teil eines lebendigen Ortes zu sein: Du bist herzlich willkommen!
  
  Besonders gut passt du zu uns, wenn du:
  gerne draußen und praktisch arbeitest
  eigenverantwortlich, achtsam und flexibel bist
  Freude an gemeinsamem Essen, Austausch und Zusammensein hast
  Lust hast, Teil eines Ortes im Aufbau zu sein
  
  Sprachen:
  Unsere Muttersprache ist Deutsch, die meisten von uns sprechen auch Englisch.
  Wir lernen Portugiesisch – und freuen uns über jede Gelegenheit zum Üben!
  
  Art des Austausches:
  Vollpension = Schlaf- und Parkplatz + 3 vegetarische Mahlzeiten (viel Bio) pro Tag.
  → max. 5 Stunden am Tag für 5 Tage die Woche.*
  
  Halbpension = Schlaf – und Parkplatz exklusive Verkostung.
  → max. 3 Stunden am Tag für 5 Tage die Woche
  
  *Familien, die Vollpension wählen, werden um einen zusätzlichen Beitrag (in Form von Geld oder Arbeit) für die Mahlzeiten der Kinder gebeten.

  We're happy to share the knowledge and experience we’ve gathered over the past years – whether it's about permaculture or building up a project like this.
  
  We love cooking and eating together, and you’ll have the chance to enjoy fresh, home-cooked vegetarian or vegan meals with us. In summer, we often light the barbecue and gather under the stars.
  
  There are lovely cafés just around the corner, and of course: you shouldn’t miss a Pastel de Nata, the famous Portuguese pastry – or a glass of delicious Douro wine while overlooking the stunning landscape.
  
  There’s also the opportunity to connect with our neighbors and like-minded nearby projects. Some of them offer things like:

  Wir teilen gern unser Wissen aus den Bereichen Permakultur und dem Aufbau von so einem Projekt im Ausland – alles, was wir hier in den letzten Jahren gesammelt und erprobt haben.
  
  Wir kochen leidenschaftlich gern – vegetarisch oder vegan – und essen meist gemeinsam. Im Sommer gibt es gemütliche Barbecues unterm Sternenhimmel.
  
  In der Umgebung findest du nette Cafés, und natürlich solltest du die portugiesische Spezialität Pastel de Nata probieren – oder ein Glas feinen Douro-Wein mit Blick in die traumhafte Landschaft genießen.
  
  Außerdem gibt es in der Nachbarschaft einige tolle Höfe mit ähnlichen Visionen. Dort finden regelmäßig statt:

  There’s always something to do on our land – and the tasks change with the seasons and the progress of our project. Right now, we're focusing on shaping the land and creating the foundation for a more self-sufficient life.
  
  Here are some of the current activities you might join:
  Clearing the land: cutting back wild blackberry bushes
  Creating a small creek
  Woodworking projects
  Building a solar-powered food dehydrator
  Supporting solar cooking experiments and prototypes
  Mushroom care and cultivation
  Gardening: weeding, planting, harvesting
  ...and whatever the day may bring!

  Auf unserem Gelände gibt es immer etwas zu tun – je nach Jahreszeit und Baufortschritt gestalten sich die Aufgaben ganz unterschiedlich. Aktuell liegt unser Fokus darauf, das Land nutzbar zu machen und die Grundlage für ein möglichst selbstversorgendes Leben zu schaffen.
  
  Hier ein Einblick in aktuelle Tätigkeiten, bei denen du mit anpacken kannst:
  Freischneiden von überwucherten Flächen, vor allem Brombeeren
  Anlegen eines kleinen Bachlaufs
  Holzarbeiten
  Bau eines kleinen solarbetriebenen Dörr-Geräts
  Unterstützung bei Solarkocher-Projekten
  Pilzpflege und -anbau
  Gartenarbeit: jäten, pflanzen, ernten
  ...und vieles mehr, was der Tag so mit sich bringt!

  Alojamiento

  We currently have two options for camping with us.
  On the one hand, we have a paved parking lot with access to electricity and water where you can park your caravan, bus or motorhome.
  On the other hand, we have a nice, large lawn for tent enthusiasts also with the possibility for electricity and water.
  
  In addition, we have a caravan and a vacation apartment for Workaway and Volunteers.
  The vacation apartment includes a bathroom with shower and toilet and a place to sleep.
  
  For everyone who lives with us, we have a house with two composting toilets and a shower.
  There is currently an improvised kitchen in one of the buildings where we cook together. And a place to sit outside to eat.

  Wir haben zur Zeit zwei Optionen zum Campen bei uns.
  Zum Einen haben wir einen befestigten Parkplatz mit einer Stromquelle und Wasser auf dem man mit seinem Wohnwagen, Bus oder Wohnmobil stehen kann.
  Zum Anderen haben wir eine hübsche große Wiese für Zeltbegeisterte auf der es auch die Möglichkeit für Strom und Wasser gibt.
  
  Außerdem bieten wir einen Caravan und eine kleine Ferienwohnung an für Workaway und Volunteers.
  Die Ferienwohnung beinhaltet ein Bad mit Dusche und WC und einem Schlafplatz.
  
  Für alle die bei uns leben, haben wir ein Häuschen in dem zwei Komposttoiletten und eine Dusche zur Verfügung stehen. Aktuell gibt es eine improvisierte Küche in einem der Gebäude, wo wir zusammen kochen.

  There is a bus stop nearby that takes you to the next larger town (Marco de Canaveses). From Marco de Canaveses there is a good train connection directly to the center of the bustling city of Porto. Here you can see all kinds of sights such as museums, churches, traditional fishing boats and markets. The beach on the Atlantic is also not far.
  In the neighbourhood we have cute little beaches on both the Douro and the Tamega river and several beautiful waterfalls. There are also many hidden hiking trails in the beautiful green mountain landscape. There are small cafes everywhere where you can enjoy a coffee and the typical Portuguese Pastel de Nata. Nearby is the famous wine-growing region of the Douro Valley, which produces world-famous red wine and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

  In der Nähe gibt es eine Bushaltestelle mit der Sie in die nächst größere Stadt (Marco de Canaveses) fahren können. Von Marco de Canaveses aus gibt es eine gute Zugverbindung direkt ins Zentrum der wunderschönen Stadt Porto. Hier können Sie sich alle Arten von Sehenswürdigkeiten wie Museen, Kirchen, traditionelle Fischerboote und Märkte anschauen. Auch der Strand am Atlantik ist nicht weit entfernt. Bei uns vor Ort gibt es kleine niedliche Strände sowohl am Douro als auch am Tamega und mehrere Wasserfälle. Außerdem befinden sich in der hier vorherrschenden wunderschönen grünen bergigen Landschaft viele versteckte Wanderwege. Überall gibt es kleine Cafés, in denen du einen Kaffee und ein typisch portugiesischen Pastel de Nata genießen kannst. In der Nähe befindet sich das berühmte Weinanbaugebiet des Douro Tals, welches weltbekannten Rotwein produziert und ein UNESCO Weltkulturerbe ist.
