I have a lovely organic garden in the heart of downtown Vancouver. I take care of my mum when she visits Vancouver from late Spring to late Fall. She is very capable so it’s more like going for walks with her or working out at the gym with her or cooking together with her. We live in the gorgeous West End and Yaletown neighbourhoods of downtown Vancouver and I’m only a 30-second walk to the beach and a 3-minute walk to the world-famous Stanley Park. My mum also lives in downtown Vancouver when she visits.
The two neighbourhoods are adjacent and it’s a 20-minute walk along the spectacular seawall to her place from mine, and vice-versa. For reasons why this is probably the best neighbourhood in downtown Vancouver, you can ask us for the link to the article. The article is called, “ Why the West End is the best neighbourhood in all of Vancouver” and you can find it on DailyHive.
I am looking for assistance from March 2026 to November 2026. Would prefer individuals or a group of two friends who can commit to at least 4 weeks, but longer periods are preferred if it’s a good fit.
I have most needs for housekeeping and gardening assistance. Additional skills that would be appreciated include website building and electrical skills.
We usually wind down starting 10:00 pm and have lights out and quiet time starting around 11:00 pm at the latest in the Summertime. Breakfast will be served between 7:00and 8:00 am if you’re a breakfast person. Lunch is usually between 12 noon and 2 pm if we have lunch, and dinner is served around 6:00-7:30 pm at the latest during the Summer months. Sometimes we only prepare two meals per day if people aren’t hungry. For recreation, we can play tennis, workout at the gym, play poker and board games or just watch a movie or tv shows. We also enjoy great conversations over a beer or a glass of wine or a homemade cocktail.
I only have shared spaces because it’s a very busy time of the year in Vancouver with many requests.
Please be mindful that unlike WA in rural areas, space is at a premium in urban areas so kindly be aware of how much space and privacy you need for your mental and physical wellbeing and comfort. We want you to feel safe, comfortable, and happy so you can thrive and grow when you’re living with us. We want you to have an epic and memorable time in Vancouver!
Because the city is so beautiful, we would like to encourage WAers to go sightseeing instead of just staying at home. We would encourage WAers to take at least 2 hours in the afternoon or around 1 hour in the evenings during the sunny months of May, June, July August and September to explore the city instead of just staying at home the whole day. This will allow you to enjoy the beautiful city and refresh your mind and body.
We would appreciate stays of at least 1 month. We have found stays of 3 months or longer with the right people to work amazingly well. It does take time to learn and adapt to each other so 1-week stays are too short. Also, if your goal is to hop from city to city or province to province every few weeks, great for you, but this probably won’t be a suitable option for you.
Also, for the Winter months (i.e. from October until April), I have accommodated WAers in Whistler. In the past, I had Workawayers stay with me for more than 5 months in Whistler also where I gave them WA opportunities and paid work as well, in addition to teaching them how to ski well. However, this privilege is reserved for WAers who have done a great job in Spring and Summer.
We might also do road trips to Okanagan (e.g. Osoyoos), Tofino and Victoria, Squamish, Whistler, and Alberta and even Yellowstone. We would take well-deserving WAers with us.
It has been many amazing experiences so far and I hope to connect with more exceptional WAers and create great memories together. I hope you (and your friend(s)/partner) will feel safe, happy and comfortable in our homes so we can all have an awesome time!
We don’t micromanage and prefer to empower you to do great work and achieve the expected results. You are welcome to ask questions and to dialog about the work that you will be requested to do. Some days there may be more hours and other days there will be fewer hours, so being flexible and available are appreciated.
Sometimes we have only 1 WAer and sometimes we have had up to 5 WAers stay with us. Some WAers had part time jobs, but not if it diminishes the quality of your WA.
To help you assess if you will be a good fit the following are some qualities we look for in potential WAers.
High emotional intelligence, including self awareness and empathy
Eagerness to learn and grow
Open-mindedness
Attention to details
Ability to follow instructions
Proactiveness
Diligence
Kindness and compassion
Trustworthiness
Authenticity and transparency
Commitment to excellence
A positive vibe
A zest for life or joie de vivre.
Potential to form great friendships
Flexibility and availability
Good problem solving skills
Experience working with seniors or teenagers or young adults are a bonus.
For March 2026, there will probably be more work in the gardens to get ready for Spring and Summer. There will also be moving work since I will have to get the apartment furnished and ready for my family’s arrival. Towards the latter part of March, responsibilities will include going on walks and working out with my mum. Then from June of 2026, my nephews and nieces may visit Vancouver and you might also play video games or basketball or other sports with them.
We want the work to bring you joy, not just as a means to get accommodation and meals. With respect to work, quality is more important than just quantity. And more than just work, it’s also about good connections that enrich our perspectives, experiences, and life. May the times we hang out with each other be filled with fun, laughter, and great memories.
Thanks for your interest and for reading carefully. We look forward to hearing from you and welcoming you to Supernatural British Columbia and our family in downtown Vancouver!

You can learn about Asian foods and culture and organic gardening and how to open your consciousness through microdosing or yoga and positive communication or cognitive behavioural rewiring.

Ayuda
There are so many projects you can help with in exchange for food and accommodation. You can help by working out in the gym with my family, play video games with my nephews, go play basketball or tennis, make a succulent planter or terrarium, build a website with AI, plumbing or electrical work around the house, make electronic music with my nephew, gardening etc.

There are so many things you can do in downtown Vancouver and the surrounding areas of Squamish, Whistler, the interiors of BC and even Washington State and Alberta. We may organize road trips to various destinations over the summer time.
