  ## Please Read Carefully Before Applying
  
  We are looking for mature, responsible and independent volunteers who want to contribute to meaningful projects while living in a peaceful natural environment.
  
  This opportunity is not only for kitesurfers. You do not need to kitesurf or take kitesurfing lessons to join us.
  
  We receive around 10 to 15 applications each week, so we do not reply to generic or copied messages. Please read our full profile and explain clearly why you believe you would be a good fit.
  
  ## Who We Are Looking For
  
  We prefer volunteers who are:
  
  * Available for at least 3 weeks
  * Interested in staying six weeks or longer
  * Mature, reliable and able to work independently
  * Comfortable living in a quiet location
  * Respectful of our staff, property and local community
  * Willing to take responsibility for an agreed project
  * Flexible enough to occasionally support the resort team
  * Able to communicate clearly and provide regular progress updates
  
  This opportunity is best suited to people who genuinely want to contribute, create something useful and become part of the place for a while.
  
  It may not be suitable for people mainly looking for a short holiday, free accommodation or free kitesurfing lessons.
  
  ## Current Priority
  
  We currently need help with **social media collaboration and content creation**.
  
  Applicants for this role must:
  
  * Have an active social media account or content portfolio
  * Be confident appearing on camera
  * Be able to create short-form videos, Reels, photographs and stories
  * Understand basic editing, captions and visual storytelling
  * Be willing to regularly document life, nature, food, experiences and projects at the resort

  ## Other Volunteer Roles
  
  Your main role will depend on your skills and experience.
  
  Current opportunities include:
  
  * **Digital Marketing and Social Media**
  Reels, photography, captions, storytelling, content planning and campaign ideas
  
  * **Video Creation**
  Filming, editing, interviews, short documentaries and visual storytelling
  
  * **Wall Art and Murals**
  Designing and painting suitable artwork around the resort
  
  * **Sustainability Projects**
  Waste reduction, waste sorting, mangrove-related activities, greenhouse development and practical eco projects
  
  * **Gardening and Landscape Design**
  Improving outdoor spaces, planning gardens and supporting small landscape projects
  
  * **Yoga Teaching**
  Available mainly from December to March for qualified and experienced teachers
  
  All volunteers may occasionally participate in shared environmental activities such as beach cleaning and waste-reduction projects.
  
  Although your main role will be based on your skills, there may be times when you are asked to help the team with **reception, guest communication, housekeeping or other simple resort tasks**. This will not normally be your main responsibility, but we expect volunteers to be flexible and willing to help when needed.
  
  We are not looking for people whose only interest is kitchen work, housekeeping or general resort operations.
  
  ## How to Apply
  
  Please include all of the following information in your first message.
  
  ### 1. Your Skills
  
  Tell us what you can do confidently and independently.
  
  Examples include social media, photography, video editing, yoga, mural painting, gardening, landscaping or sustainability projects.
  
  ### 2. Your Experience or Qualifications
  
  Mention any relevant professional experience, courses, training or certificates.
  
  Examples include yoga teacher training, marketing courses, design qualifications, film school, photography experience or sustainability training.
  
  ### 3. Your Exact Available Dates
  
  Tell us when you can arrive and how long you can stay.
  
  For example:
  
  “I am available from 10 January until 15 March.”
  
  Please do not write only “next month” or “for a few weeks.”
  
  ### 4. Your Proposed Contribution
  
  Explain what you would like to work on and what you believe you could realistically complete during your stay.
  
  For example:
  
  * I can create three quality Reels each week
  * I can photograph the rooms, food and guest experiences
  * I would like to design and complete a mural
  * I can help develop a waste-sorting system
  * I can create a planting plan for the garden
  
  ### 5. Your Portfolio or Social Media
  
  Include links to relevant accounts, websites, videos, photographs or previous projects.
  
  ## Length of Stay
  
  The minimum stay is **four weeks**, but volunteers who can stay for six weeks or longer will receive priority.
  
  Longer stays allow enough time to understand the business, settle into the environment and complete useful work instead of only starting a project and leaving.
  
  Couples are welcome, but each person must apply for and take responsibility for a different role. We normally accept only one person from a couple for the marketing or social media position.
  
  ## Remote Workers
  
  Remote workers may apply, but your personal work must not interfere with your responsibilities at the resort.
  
  You must be able to dedicate the agreed working hours, energy and attention to your volunteer role. Please tell us in your application:
  
  * How many hours you work remotely each week
  * Your normal working schedule
  * Whether you have meetings or fixed working hours
  * How you will balance your remote work with the agreed volunteer schedule
  
  This exchange will not be suitable for someone working remotely full-time who is unavailable during most of the day. We may consider part-time remote workers and people with flexible schedules who can make a genuine contribution.
  
  ## Kitesurfing and Seasons
  
  Our main kitesurfing seasons are:
  
  * Mid-December to the end of March
  * Mid-May to late September, sometimes continuing into October
  
  The off-season is quieter and can be ideal for volunteers working on creative, environmental, gardening or development projects.
  
  Kitesurfing lessons are not included in the volunteer exchange.
  
  Volunteers staying for four weeks or longer may receive discounted lesson rates after completing their first two weeks. Kitesurfing is optional and is not the main purpose of this opportunity.
  
  ## Working Together
  
  When you arrive, we will agree on:
  
  * Your main role
  * Your expected tasks
  * A realistic weekly schedule
  * The project or results you will work toward
  * How progress will be reviewed
  
  You will report your progress to the owner or resort manager.
  
  We value independence, but independence does not mean disappearing or working without communication. We expect volunteers to follow through on agreed responsibilities and let us know early when they need help.
  
  Volunteers are expected to be flexible. During busy periods, you may occasionally be asked to support reception, communicate with guests, help prepare rooms or assist with another reasonable task.
  
  ## Important Conditions
  
  * Previous Workaway experience is an advantage but is not essential.
  * Skilled content creators, videographers and applicants offering longer stays receive priority.
  * Remote workers must disclose their work schedule before being accepted.
  * Volunteers must respect the agreed working hours and responsibilities.
  * your food allergy must be discussed before arrival, it takes lot of effort to manage some food allergies,
  * Volunteers must take reasonable care of the accommodation, equipment and shared spaces.
  * If someone repeatedly does not participate, does not complete agreed tasks or behaves disrespectfully, we may end the arrangement and ask them to leave.
  * The exchange should be fair and useful for both the volunteer and our team.
  
  We are looking for thoughtful people who would enjoy living close to nature, contributing something valuable and becoming part of our small community for more than just a few days.

  This keeps remote workers eligible without attracting people who plan to work online all day and treat the Workaway responsibilities as optional.

  Experience Local Fishing Life
  Our resort is next to a traditional fishing village. You can see how local fishermen live and work every day. Depending on the season, you may join a fisherman to catch crab, prawns, or fish using traditional methods.
  
  Nature and Wildlife
  Visit Wilpattu National Park, one of Sri Lanka’s most beautiful wildlife parks. It is about 30 minutes away by boat. You can see wild animals in their natural environment.
  
  Cultural Visits
  Visit nearby places of worship such as Buddhist temples, Hindu temples, mosques, and churches. You can also visit local schools, hospitals, village markets, and the historic fort to learn more about local life and culture.
  
  Outdoor Adventures
  Explore the area on foot, by kayak, or by bicycle. You can also travel by bus or tuk-tuk to see more of the surrounding region.
  
  Local Activities
  Play netball with local people, walk 2 km to the nearest town, or visit the beach using our bicycles. swimming pool, and relax in the calm and peaceful surroundings of the resort.
