Hi! My husband Larry, myself (Liezel) and our boys Liam (9) and Lincoln ( 4) would like to welcome you to our ranch in southwest Saskatchewan.
We are looking for a mature single or couple, to look after our farm while we are on holiday from mid-January 2025 for a duration of 4-6 weeks while we go to South Africa to see family.
We have horses, dogs, chickens, rabbits and a few house plants.
We have a modest but comfortable house with Starlink internet for all your winter binge watching needsTipos de ayuda y oportunidades de aprendizaje

If you can come early January (we plan to leave by the 10) so we can show you the things that need doing and the technical stuff like where the water mains are, etc and introduce you to the animals.
If you’re adventurous we can show you how to drive the tractor in case you need to move some round bales for the animals- but if you don’t want to that’s ok, we can ask a neighbour.Proyectos con niños

Ayuda
Daily chores would include:
Check the horses (5 of them) they will have access to round bales of hay. Break ice on the stock water tower as needed.
Dogs: we have 5 livestock guardian dogs that need feeding 1x a day
We have several border collies (3 adults and maybe a few young dogs from our current litter of pups) The collies will be in dog runs, they would appreciate some outside time 1x or 2x a day to run and play. Feed and water (they will have heated water buckets that need filling)
There is a coop full of hens so no shortage of eggs! Check for eggs and collect, check their feed. If there is snow they don’t need water but if there is no snow, a small bucket of warm water will be nice
4 rabbits: (2 males and 2 females- they are in 2 separate hutches) feed and water daily and top up their bedding as required.
I’m not sure if we will have sheep at that time- there might be a small pen of sheep that will be in a corral with access to hay and water. That’s it! Water a few house plants a couple times a week.
In winter we often wait for daylight (9am) go outside, do an hour or so, come warm up, then do the rest. Sometimes we do an evening check too, at 4pm to be done before it’s dark. The rest of the time is your own. Explore Moose Jaw, Gravelbourg, the Coderre Bar, Swift Current.
We have a spare vehicle so you won’t be stranded if you don’t have a vehicle.Idiomas

Gerry is up at the crack of dawn and has a go-getter attitude- he will outwork almost anyone!
Confident and able to handle solo tasks but also worked great as a team member.
Thanks for the help Gerry and we wish you the best of luck!
Our tasks included feeding, a little cleaning and also lots of animal work, because it was lambing season. The work is fun but the days can be long and hard sometimes.

It's not a problem if you don't have experience in agriculture or sheep. They'll teach you a lot of things. Our first week was already crazy, right in the middle of lambing season. New lambs,… read more
I got there at the end of February and stayed until the end of March. The first week was slow and cold but it was great to learn the basics and get used to the place and the animals. I got to help with shearing and later the lambing.

Liezel's and Larry's place was my first ranching experience in Canada and I couldn't have asked for a better one. You never know what to expect and after 5 months of working on several ranches, Shamrock ranch is still my favorite.
