    OPEN CALL — Build the Core of this place

    This is not a regular volunteering opportunity.

    This place is at a decisive moment. The land is waiting.

    The infrastructure is there. The vision is clear. But what is still missing are the people who are ready to bring this place to life.
    At the moment, the land is not permanently inhabited. For this reason, we are not looking for short-term volunteers who simply want to pass through. Instead, we are calling for a small group of courageous, committed people who want to become the foundation of a living community.
    If you are looking for a finished eco-village, this is probably not the right place.
    If you have ever dreamed of helping create one from the very beginning, keep reading.
    We are looking for people with initiative, resilience, creativity and a willingness to take responsibility. People who don’t wait for someone else to organize everything, but enjoy shaping structures together.
    The project is supported by David and Iris, who hold the vision, offer guidance and continue supporting the project financially and personally. They are not leaders of the community. Instead, they create the conditions for a self-organized, sociocratic community in which responsibility is shared.
    This is an invitation to become part of the first core group that will breathe life back into this extraordinary place.
    We know this path is not always comfortable. Living off-grid, building in the tropics, organizing ourselves without hierarchy and learning to communicate honestly all require patience and commitment.
    But this is exactly what makes the project unique.
    If you feel called to help build a peaceful, regenerative and self-sustaining community from the ground up, we would love to hear from you.

    Now is the moment.

    The land is waiting.

    Learning & Cultural Exchange

    This is a place of shared learning. As people from different countries and backgrounds come together, everyone brings unique knowledge, skills and experiences.

    During your stay, you’ll have the opportunity to learn through everyday community life, practical work and the exchange of ideas with others.

    Depending on the people currently living on the land, you may learn about:

    * Permaculture and regenerative gardening
    * Bamboo and natural building techniques
    * Community living and sociocratic decision-making
    * Sustainable and off-grid living
    * Vegetarian cooking
    * Yoga, meditation and mindfulness practices
    * Creative expression through art, music, dance and storytelling
    * Tropical ecology and local knowledge
    * Intercultural exchange and collaborative living

    We also encourage everyone to share their own skills. Whether you are an artist, musician, builder, gardener, educator, therapist, designer or simply passionate about a topic, you are welcome to organize workshops, creative sessions or community activities and inspire others. We have daily contact with the surrounding community and have some good relationships and hope to build this up into the wider community. There is a a big population of afro carribean people here and the local area is also known as 'little Africa '. You would have the opportunity to work with local people on the land and engage with them when exploring the local community. There are also indigenous communities living in the jungle.

    Accommodation & Living Conditions

    This place is in an early stage of development. Basic infrastructure is available, but the project is still growing and improving. Living here requires flexibility, adaptability and a willingness to contribute to the ongoing development of the community.

    Accommodation

    Accommodation depends on availability and the length of your stay. We currently offer:

    * Shared dormitory beds
    * Hammock spaces
    * Camping areas (recommended if you bring your own tent)

    The facilities are simple but functional. As the project develops, accommodation options will continue to improve and expand.

    Food

    Three vegetarian meals are provided each day and prepared together in the community kitchen. Occasionally, fish is served. Community members share responsibility for cooking, cleaning and keeping the kitchen organized.

    Infrastructure

    The land currently includes:

    * Community kitchen
    * Bathrooms and showers
    * Yoga and meditation space
    * Camping areas
    * Storage and workshop spaces
    * Areas for gardening and construction projects

    Electricity is currently available. Water comes from rainwater collection, a well and the river. The long-term vision is to become fully off-grid.

    The Land

    The project is located on approximately 42 hectares of tropical land in Esmeraldas Province, Ecuador, about 25 km from the Pacific coast.

    The property includes:

    * A river running through the land
    * Existing bamboo and native forest
    * Permaculture areas and gardens
    * Open space for future construction and agriculture

    The tropical climate means high humidity, frequent rain during the rainy season, strong sunshine and abundant wildlife.

    Long-Term Living

    People who decide to become part of the Core Group have the possibility to build their own natural home on community land in accordance with the community’s ecological building guidelines.

    The community is currently developing shared agreements regarding housing, infrastructure and future village planning.

    What to Expect

    Living here is quite different from staying at an established hostel or eco-lodge. Infrastructure is still being built, systems are evolving and everyone contributes to improving the place.

    You should feel comfortable with:

    * Simple living conditions
    * Sharing communal spaces
    * Tropical weather and insects
    * Physical work
    * Living in a rural area
    * Helping build and maintain the infrastructure alongside the community

    This is a place for people who enjoy being involved in the practical development of a long-term community rather than simply staying as guests.

    Connection to School

    As part of the project, there will also be the opportunity to spend time at the School, located near Quito. This offers a change of environment, more comfortable accommodation for a short period, and the chance to connect with the wider network behind this place.

    The school serves as a place for exchange, reflection and planning. Here you can meet Iris Disse, yoga and tantra teacher and co-founder of the vision, to discuss ideas, personal projects, community development or receive guidance and support when needed.

    Depending on the situation and ongoing activities, time at the school can also provide opportunities to participate in workshops, connect with other community members and collaborators, or simply recharge before returning to the land.

    The connection between the land in Esmeraldas and the School creates a wider network of people, knowledge and resources that supports the long-term development of the community.
