Description
My name is Dedi, I am passionate about promoting the Kerinci Valley to tourists. We have so many amazing attractions but not many people know about them.
I studied Tourism and worked in Bali, and have traveled and worked in Jakarta and the Mentawai islands.
I learned English while working in tourism but I always love to practise and improve my English skills. I decided to come back to my home town to promote what I believe is one of the most untouched and beautiful parts of Indonesia. I have a wife and 2 sons who is 6 years old and 3 months. We live in my wife’s family home in Siulak Panjang. There is also the possibility to work at a guesthouse, which is right next to the Kerinci mountain.Types d'aide et opportunités d'apprendre

We welcome our volunteers as family members and are happy to share our daily lives with you. I can show you around and teach you about the wonderful attractions in the Kerinci Valley, including the largest volcano in Indonesia, waterfalls, hot springs, amazing wildlife, including the largest population of wild Sumatran tigers (very shy and often hard to find though) in the world, and cinnamon and tea processing. I love talking about the local culture, customs and festivals. We can also teach you how to cook traditional food if you like, just ask!

There are always lots of different things happening here, so we can talk about what you are interested in and what I need help with when you are here.
The work I need help with is tourism and promotion of the Kerinci valley. I also work at a beautiful guesthouse and we can always use help with maintaining the house and garden. There are many fruit trees and coffee trees. You could join us in harvesting and sorting the beans. Sometimes I need assistance with computer programs and finances. Volunteers who have skills in arts and DIY are very welcome. The villagers here often have interesting local products such as woodworks, eco print fabrics and other handicrafts that could be sold to visitors. Maybe you can help us to develop the local economy this way. Foreigners who are involved with vlogging and video editing are most welcome to join us as well because we really want to promote the Kerinci valley and its attractions to get more visitors.
To make Kerinci more tourist ready, Kerinci locals need to practise their English. We don’t run set classes but you may be able to visit schools, and have conversations, teach and play with the local children.Langues

How can you get here? (I can help with any shared cars from Jambi, Padang or Kerinci Airports)
1. Fly into Padang (Minangkabau International Airport) from Jakarta or KL ($50-$60 AUD), get a shared car (100-150,000Rp) or private car (1,000,000Rp) to Kerinci Valley (7-8 hours).
2. Fly to Kerinci Airport (KRC) from Jambi Airport (DJB) ($40-$60AUD), then a bus to Sungai Penuh takes 45 mins (15,000 Rp). From Sungai Penuh.
3. Fly to Jambi Airport (DJB), then get a shared car (180-200,000Rp) or private car(1,100,000Rp) to Kerinci Valley (11 hours)
The Kerinci Valley has so many opportunities to see natural wonders, wildlife and our unique culture. I live near the Richfield dan waterfall area . When you go by motor a hour to tea plantation you will see Gunung Kerinci, Indonesia’s highest volcano. You can also visit caves, waterfalls, hot springs and tea/cinnamon processing. Lake Kaco has five lakes that are all different colours. The Kerinci Valley is home to gibbons, monkeys, birds and the giant corpse flower. There are over 160 tigers in Kerinci Seblat National Park but they are shy and the park is large so you probably won’t meet them, even if you go trekking. I can take you to some sites close by or help you organise a tour if you want to go further or climb a mountain.
If you like volley-ball, you will like it here, we play volley every day at 16h30 and you are welcome to join us :DInformations complémentaires
