Overall it was a very fulfilling experience! I also got a chance to practice my French with the neighbours and about life in the community, I learned a few new French dishes, and I was beyond pleased to discover a new part of France - which was beautiful !

Amanda spent 1 month at my place. She is an excellent teacher, very inventive and enthusiastic. She made a birthday card for Azra and helped me to organize Azra's birthday party. She corrected my mistakes in English and I learnt a lot about the diversity of Indian culture with her. Amanda is also a good cook : she prepared a biryani for a dinner

Rebecca spent 10 days at my place, she was very ethusiastic to play with children, she even helped me to organize an Halloween party with 3 children. She prepared a meal while I was picking up my goddaughter at her place. Rebecca is also very proactive. I really enjoy hosting her.

Héloise is such a nice, humble, knowledgeable, intelligent, simple person. I helped her practice English and taught the kids (Azra, Keila, Romayo) English as well. … read more apartment is really nice and located in the country, very safe area. The supermarket, shops, and train are within walking distance. I enjoyed making delicious vegan meals with Héloise as well. Highly recommend, it was a wonderful experience!

I also got to have interesting deep conversations with Héloïse, she's quite open-minded and she carried each conversation very well. I have to say that it was a very enlighting exprience as I also got to meet her friend and neighbors and everyone was just very kind- they included me instantly and for that, I'm eternally grateful.

Héloïse helped me to organise trips to Mont St Michel, St. Malo, Rennes, Dinan and we had a lovely walk to the Menhir in Dol, collecting chestnuts on the way.
I was happy to support my host with her English studies and preparation for the Cambridge Advanced Exam. Héloïse’s English is very good and we had many interesting conversations about culture, politics and societies. I have also learned some new board and card games and have already introduced Skyjo to my family.
I very much enjoyed supporting Héloïse’s pupils from the “godmother scheme” and she organised a lovely Halloween afternoon, with baking, dressing up, English lesson and creating masks.

I learned a lot about the co-housing and was lucky to meet some of Héloise's lovely neighbours to speak French, play games and even share a meal. During my stay I was able to visit many lovely places in Brittany and I particularly enjoyed a coastal hike with Héloise. We were able to discuss a range of topics and I really enjoyed getting to know her during my stay. I was very happy to host Rebecca for almost 1 month in September. She helped me to prepare the C1 exam giving me useful advices. She was patient enough to read the listening part twice each time because I didn't have the audio. We had interesting conversations about Ireland's history. … read more in the kitchen (we cooked a zebra cake and chocolate cupcakes), in the library and in the park. She read books in English to Azra and played different games. She played and talked in French with my goddaugter Keila (11 years old) and helped me to organized a pizza meal with the neighbours. Rebecca also cleaned the house and cooked a shepherd's pie and pumpkin cupcakes. Rebecca is very eager to learn French and took part in the everyday life in my neighbourhood : she attended a meeting and join me when I was with my neighbours to play board games or have a drink. Rebecca was very proactive with the children and I recommand her for teaching and volunteering with kids.

I will always remember the afternoon we spent with Azra in the park in Rennes and the very interesting conversation we shared in the evening at my place and which ended after the sunset. I practiced my spanish and learnt about Guatemala too. Paola is eager to share her culture and she even cooked dishes from her country whereas the ingredients weren't exactly the same. I hope I wasn't too talkative and too tiring for Paola because I was involved in many different things when Paola came. Thanks a lot for everything ! … read more that Héloïse puts in her work with children. We were lucky to have lovely weather and I had the opportunity to visit Saint Malo at the weekend. Dol-de-Bretagne itself is a quaint little town with all the amenities and the center is a very short walk away.
In hindsight it was a bit ambitious to combine this experience with working from home as it left little time for me to explore the area, but I am very grateful for such a good first-time experience. We have very different lifestyles and personalities, and we did not go out that much, but it was not an issue for a short stay.
