We love to give our volunteers a meaningful, safe, educational and special experience. Our project it has been all these ten years an important contribution to the community, we are making a big difference. We would love to continue with this important experience and we have more and more volunteer positions available every year. It means we could change the life of more people through education. I am from Guatemala, I am hard-working. I’m running by myself a small English academy and I would love some support teaching English to my students (we have regular students and students with a scholarship that I gave them. For most of our students this is the only chance they have to improve their lives, most of them don’t have the chance to get superior education, but learning English they will have more opportunities for that, working in a call center and paying their own university and bills.
The students are respectful, friendly, always eager to learn and they’re always excited about meeting new people from other countries, the students will help you with the classes and to make this experience very special. Teaching experience is not required but we will help you to be a professional here with our advice. Always remember to prepare your classes, have fun and your main objective is to change lives in a small town sharing your knowledge and your time with the students. Let’s make a meaningful change in this community together. Remember: repetition is the mother of knowledge and being a teacher will change your life for ever, even if it’s just for a while in this project. So are you ready for this meaningful challenge?
Palin is a beautiful indigenous town, you could relax here! Kindly note that this is not a party town, it's full of culture and indigenous tradition! You will live in the real Guatemala life here, not tourist area at all... with a beautiful town and people to practice your Spanish every day. We have other cities nearby (Antigua Guatemala for example)
You will have your own private bedroom in an apartment, it’s nice to say the project bought big new comfortable beds, you will share the apartment with other volunteer, you won’t share the bedroom. We do not have a housekeeper, please wash your dishes and clean up. The apartment has all the services and you will find fruit, vegetables, pasta, oatmeal, beans, rice, milk and eggs, 60% of the food or more. if you have a special diet or you cook with special ingredients you will get them.
If you study Spanish at school or university this is a good project to improve your skills as well, or maybe you would like to be a international teacher around the world. Kindly note that we are waiting people with good intentions and people who know the meaning of “support”; our students deserve respect as anyone; we do not accept drugs or people with drinking or smoking issues (a hostal position is better for that, not an education position) we need to be very clear about this.
Update: We need fluent communication. If you send a message please reply as soon as possible to confirm your Volunteer position with exact date... we work with annual schedule! If someone cancel, of course you could have a chance! This is a beautiful project and your visit will be a very important fact here!

My experience with Raul and his team of English teachers was amazing. I would have loved to stay for much much longer if time had allowed it.
Raul is super helpful and a great host, the accomodation is brilliant with a lovely swimming pool, and the experience was a super way to get to know the local culture more.

Such a memorable experience! Palin is a small, wonderful town with a lot of culture. Our Spanish improved so much while teaching and exploring the town. It's great for weekend trips to the volcanos and to Antigua! Raul is awesome and really cares about his students, you really feel like you make a difference volunteering with him.
