We were so happy to have met Paola and spent this time with her! Even though her stay was short, we bonded really quickly and feel like we've known her forever. She's so warm and sympathetic, simply a wonderful person—a young, bright girl, curious about everything, and with such a broad culture. We were so impressed by her wisdom at such a young
… read more age. We talked a lot about Mexico, politics, art, music, and her amazing family. We learned so much about where she comes from, even though we have many cultural references in common.
She was loving and caring with the kids, laughing with them, and having discussions with them at home and during our city outings. She introduced them to coding and taught them to create animated shapes for games. I was amazed by her teaching technique—so efficient and fun at the same time. We still have on our fridge the paper she summarized with her beautiful handwriting: "How to create a creative coding project," complete with diagrams and steps to follow. This is so precious to us! I was so touched by how she put all her heart and dedication into ensuring they remembered what they learned with her. The kids also learned Spanish with her, and I loved her approach—starting with grammar and conjugation for the basics, then moving to more fun activities. She's definitely a great teacher!
I think Paola will be a lifelong friend, and we're counting on that! We hope to see her soon and wish her all the best in her future projects, whether in her studies or professional work. She's already created fantastic projects, and I’m sure she'll achieve great things in her career and life. We miss you, Paola! See you soon!

The experience was enriching in every possible way. The hospitality was great, and every day was filled with warmth, laughter, and unforgettable moments. Diala has truly created a wonderful environment for Workawayers, and I’m so grateful for the time I spent with you.

Hazel's theatrical reading, where she took on the different voices of the characters with perfect tone, was remarkable. I told her she could easily be an actress in her spare time! Layal, our eldest, also greatly benefited from Hazel's English lessons, as they read New York Times articles together. This not only improved Layal's English but also broadened her understanding of the world. Hazel's dedication to ensuring Layal understood every vocabulary word and concept was remarkable, leading to insightful discussions that Layal very much enjoyed.
We cherished the stories Hazel shared about her life in New York, her insights on the city, and its cultural scene. Discovering common cultural references and interests was a constant joy, further enriched when we met her father. We spent an amazing evening with him and Hazel, discussing music and movies, and enjoying his wonderful guitar playing. This experience was truly precious to us. We also spoke with her mom and corresponded; she is as amazing as her husband.
Hazel was impressively independent, outgoing, and sociable, often going out for interesting outings and visiting neighboring cities on weekends with the friends she made here in Montpellier. These friendships have become long-lasting, and she told me some are even visiting her already in New York! We feel grateful to have been part of her journey. We hope to see her again when she comes to France, welcome her into our house, and also meet her wonderful family! We wish her the best in her studies at college, which she will start very soon!

I spent an amazing month and a half in the beautiful city of Montpellier with Diala and Arnaud and their children. I was only planning on staying three weeks but I was so welcomed into their family and loved the city so much I stayed much longer.
I had a lot of fun reading Horrid Henry, a British chapter book with Joud and Naya the twins. They
… read more are both very good at picking up on English quickly. And it was amazing really seeing their conversational skills develop while I was there. Even in English, although not their first language, they are both very funny. I also had a lot of fun reading New York Times articles with Layal, the older sister. We would choose an article together then take turns reading paragraphs so I could correct her with pronunciation. We would then discuss the articles to make sure she understood and she always offered very interesting insights.
Diala and Arnaud always ensured that there were things in the house that I liked to eat and often brought home fresh bread that was always so amazing. All the dinners they made every night were always so wonderful. I got to try some of Diala’s delicious Lebanese recipes as well as classic French dishes such as boeuf bourguignon and filet Mignon en croûte. Our dinners were always a lot of fun with fun discussions about movies and music and general happenings of the day. Diala and Arnaud were always very helpful in finding things to do in and around Montpellier. They gave me many amazing recommendations. I always had a ton of time to do all these activities since the work wasn’t too tiring. I really fell in love with Montpellier and made some very amazing friends, some are even are going to visit me in New York! The city is absolutely amazing with so many things to do for young people. There are also so many amazing French cities and towns very easily accessible. I got to visit Sête, Arles, Nimes, and Avignon and all were great. We also all had a very fun night when my dad visited and came over. We had an amazing dinner Diala and Arnaud prepared, and played some music together. Patricia is an interesting and sociable young woman, and we thoroughly enjoyed our discussions during meals.She is an accomplished engineer with extensive global work experience in her field. Patricia is incredibly focused and dynamic: she managed to study French, pursue career opportunities, hit the gym, and enjoy outings with friends. It was the first time our kids had private Spanish lessons, which proved a bit challenging compared to English, but Patricia made the classes so playful that they actively participated and were able to concentrate well. Thanks to her, they made good progress! We look forward to seeing Patricia soon in Montpellier!

We were so happy to have welcomed Cerys for three weeks in our home! She is a wonderful girl, so cheerful and full of good vibes. We had great laughs and interesting conversations. … read more accents, sounding like theater. She is actually a professional actor, dancer and singer. She is so talented and has such high levels of skills that we were all impressed. We won’t be surprised if she will soon make a name for herself in the entertainment world. We sang together while Arnaud played the piano and she gave dance lessons to the girls which helped them a lot since they had soon after their big final year dance show. We were so grateful! Cerys helped us too in the house. Several times she took the girls to their dance lessons in the city-center and in-between lessons she taught them English at a coffee terrace, so it was very pleasant for them. In general, she interacted all the time with all of us and we felt she was part of the family. She’s also very sociable so she made new friends in Montpellier while going out to events in the city and while sight seing in cities and nature spots around Montpellier. We hope to see her again here in Montpellier at our home and meanwhile wish her the best in her promising career! :-)

Montpellier has a rich cultural scene, international population and beautiful weather. Everywhere I visited was lovely, and the family took me to the beach with them where I had a great time swimming with the kids.

The family are wonderful and I really bonded with them. Diala is a beautiful person inside and out! She was very flexible with when I completed my work hours, allowing me to get the most out of my time there. We had a lot of laughs, especially when I got lost up a mountain before hitch hiking home, and also when she had to rescue me from spiders - luckily she's an absolute badass;) She's extremely supportive of my career and reminded me to aim high at a time when I really needed it, which I will always be extremely grateful for. She also made me a cake and gave me a lovely present on my birthday:) Arnaud is a gentle person with so much knowledge, so we had many interesting conversations. He also let me see his sketchbook - he's a very talented artist!
The children are a credit to their parents. Layal is intelligent and funny, and always has plenty to talk about. I was blown away by both her speaking and reading in English, and she was also really helpful with translation when I needed it with the twins. Naya is a natural dancer with such a sweet soul, we had a lot of fun together even with my lack of French. Joud is hilarious and made me laugh every day. He has really advanced political knowledge even has a plan to become the President of Lebanon. I will keep an eye out for him on the news in future, even though his plan isn't technically possible. If anyone can find a way, it's him!

Although my french is not very good, I had a lot of fun with the children. I was able to marvel at Naya's dance performance in the kitchen, Joud's drawings and Layal's baking skills. My work included cleaning, taking care of the children and teaching the twins english. Diala was very patient with me - I had never given english lessons and needed some of her tips.

During my stay, Diala and Arnaud helped me with everything: they told me, where to go, which museum to visit, how to get the tram tickets, how to get to the beach, they lend me their bike,... they even took me to Lac de Salagou, Marche du Lez and to Nimes, and it was wonderful and very pleasant! I was positively surprised when there was no problem for the kids to go to the museum and to just spend there an hour or two. I loved seeing Arnaud encouraging the kids to draw whenever they became tired or bored, and Diala observing them and saying how good they draw something - that way the kids relaxed, calmed down and didn't make any scenes. I really congratulate you on that! Bravo!
I was also amazed to see how much the kids read and how they are prepared to cooperate. Not only they read every day in French, but they also did it with me in English. Apart from English lessons, we also played games together. Naya often asked me to join the game or to play with her hairdresser, which was really amusing. One night when I was alone with the kids we made pizza together and following Layal's instructions and the organisation skills she has as a big sister, we all just worked together without any problems. I really miss spending time with them and I would definitely reccomend this family if you like working with kids !
As far as my responsabilities are concerned, Diala always asked me first what I was planning to do for the following week, and if I would prefer to work in the morning or the afternoon. She was super understanding and flexible, and I never really felt I was in a hurry because I had enough time to see the thing I wanted.
The familiy really touched my heart and I miss them very much! Layal, Naya, Joud - each of them is so special and soo adorable. Arnaud, Diala, thank you for all the good conversations we had and thank you for all good advice you gave me not only for my stay in France, but also for my future and my career! She’s a creative person, she is so talented in painting and enjoys visiting museums and art galleries and it was very pleasing to discuss art with her. She also helped us at home in cleaning and organizing, taking initiatives and making us feel less overwhelmed by house work. She was a great presence and we hope to welcome her again in our home.

I had a lovely time staying with Diala and Arnoud's family. They are a delightful family with twins Naya and Jude and older daughter, Layal.
My work was for 4 hours a day and involved helping Diala running the house, including housework and looking after the children. I read with Layal and Jude in English and taught the twins some karate

The house is a short bus or tram ride from Montpellier centre, making it very convenient for studying at a French school in the mornings or just exploring the beautiful historic centre. At the house I had my own bedroom, which was spacious with space to hang my clothes and a desk.
I enjoyed joining the family as they sang songs, whilst Arnoud played guitar, dancing Arabic style with Diala and also devouring a giant breakfast of crepes that we ate with the family's friends before I left.
