It was a fortune to meet Elisa and Zoltan. A couple of loving guys always open and in harmony with life; and rich in good culture and sound principles. Together skilled and loving in the assigned tasks and in the house chores. Always eager to learn and do.

Our experience at Silvio’s had been fantastic, strongly recommended! Silvio is very generous and welcoming, he cooked wonderful local dishes for us, taught us how to make bread and how to savour the most authentic local cuisine. Workawayers are invited to perform various tasks from roofing to gardening, from refurnishing old furniture to planting
… read more herbs. However, tasks are according to the individual expertise and willingness to try, only if one is comfortable, otherwise he will find you something else to do.
The work is engaging, flexible, not challenging and planned to allow plenty of time for exploring beautiful sights around Palermo.
Silvio is an excellent piano teacher and, in the downtime, one can learn to play the piano, to cook and a lot about the local history, best food shops and sightseeing. He is extremely helpful and has also given us a lift to the seaside (which can also be reached by bicycle or bus) and city centre (which is an overground train or a couple of buses ride away).
Grazie Silvio, Salya, Chico and to all the family for having us and making us feel we belonged there, alla prossima!
We spent Christmas in Sicily, a couple of weeks in total, it was our first workaway and we couldn't have had a better host. Doing a workaway with Silvio is a total immersion in the Italian culture. He is super kind, friendly, respectful and has a big heart. He is a very good cook, he will always have some new traditional recipe to make and teach
… read more you. The working hours are totally affordable and very flexible by Silvio, who will always be willing to teach you some new job: gardening, picking oranges, woodworking.... even piano!! The house is about 15 minutes walk from the nearest train station from where you can move around the villages near Palermo. We took advantage of the free days to move to the furthest points of the island. Without a doubt a great and beautiful experience!Photos

My stay with Silvio was a beautiful and excellent experience. The entire stay was just a pleasure. Silvio as a host is an extremely caring person… kindhearted, understanding and hospitable. He taught me a lot of things about renovation of old historical furniture. He is very skilled in that field. He not only knows everything about Italian food
… read more (sicilian in particular) but he cooks as a master. The best cook I have ever met in my life. He puts his heart in everything he does. I liked also the stone house that Silvio built himself and the garden. The sicilian nature is breathtaking and there is many beautiful spots around to visit. I highly recommend Silvio’s place to all the volunteers.
i stayed with Silvio for 2 weeks in October, with my wife joining me for the last few days before we traveled more in Sicily. Silvio is an exceptional host and a lively person. I would generally work in the morning and then jump on the train to some small town to visit for the afternoon. Palermo is also just 25 minutes away by train. Silvio is also an excellent cook and does a very good job of allowing you personal space and time.
