Description
Hi! I’m Ana (23), and I live off-grid with my parents and brother, in the peaceful countryside of Castelo Branco. We care for around 20+ rescue cats who found their way to our land, along with a flock of poultry. Together, we’re creating a self-sufficient life — growing our own food, building what we need by hand, and running a small Etsy shop to support ourselves and the animals.
This is a space of simplicity, care, and connection with nature. Volunteers help with the cats, gardening, eco-building, and creative tasks. We provide tent accommodation, and the chance to unplug and live gently.
We love meeting people who are kind, adaptable, and passionate about animals or sustainable living. If you’re open to learning and lending a hand, we’d love to welcome you here!Types d'aide et opportunités d'apprendre

Near our location you can hike through the rural paths in the area and forage. We also have an electric bike available. You can ride to Barragem de Santa Agueda (40 minutes away by bike) to have a swim. You can also look up touristic routes in the website of the Camera Municipal de Castelo Branco.
Here you can learn what life Off Grid can be like, taking care of poultry, maintaining plants and working on some building projects.Projets impliquant des enfants

We are in need of help to create better living conditions, build living spaces, care for the animals that live with us, improve our energy and water sources and to upcycle our trash.
On an average day, we start by taking care of our animals, ensuring they are fed, healthy, and happy. This includes everything from feeding to cleaning their living spaces and monitoring their well-being.
We also clean and clear the land to reduce fire hazards, an important task given our rural location.
Depending on the season, we plant trees, flowers, and a variety of foods. We are continuously creating and maintaining structures to assist with gardening, such as raised beds and shade structures to protect delicate plants from the harsh sun.
Our online shop is a creative outlet to support our mission of providing better living conditions for the cats and enhancing our sustainability efforts. Every product sold helps us fund essential supplies, veterinary care for the cats, and sustainability projects on our land. We are looking for creative and compassionate volunteers to assist us and help organise the workspace, help with tools maintenance so the tools are always in good condition.Langues parlées

We are happy to provide a tent, camping bed, sleeping bag, pillow and blankets to volunteers who cannot bring them. You can also come by caravan if you have one.
We provide the necessary things for breakfast, lunch and dinner. You're free to eat as much as you want and request specific ingredients but the meals won't be ready on their own. As we have a lot of work we are counting on the collaboration of volunteers to help prepare each meal. I myself don't eat breakfast but we will have things like coffee, tea, bread, cereals and anything you'd like available 😊Autres infos...
🐾 Cats:
You must be comfortable around animals and gentle with them. They're our top priority.
🌍 Is the place Right for You?
We’d love to host you if:
•You’re truly interested in off-grid, nature-based living
•You’re okay with basic comforts (tent life, natural rhythms)
•You’re kind, respectful, and willing to help where needed
•You understand that this is a work exchange, not a free vacation
If that sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you!
For those that need an invitation letter to enter Portugal, at this moment we are not able to provide.Informations complémentaires

I went to Porto pretty spontaniously and was searching for my first host, when Ana texted me and a couple days later i went to her place. All of the people there where so welcoming and nice, that i felt on the right place right from the beginning.
