  Description

  This is a private non-governmental charity established for the advancement of the situation of children, young adults and their families in Cambodia. We are convinced that quality education is a key factor to achieve this. Due to the country’s recent history being overshadowed by civil war and economic instability, the state of the education system in Cambodia is very poor. This poses a tremendous challenge to the country since there are many young Cambodians eager to enter the labour market who lack the level of education that is needed to access decent jobs.
  
  We think that establishing a good educational system and enabling more people to access it, will not only contribute to securing the livelihoods of many families, but will also provide Cambodia’s new generation with the means to grow on a personal level.
  
  This is why most of our projects focus on improving the educational situation. We do this by creating educational opportunities like our English school and our dormitories for university students, while making it easier for children and youth coming from poor, rural communities to access these facilities by providing them with scholarships.
  
  We have since our founding in 2005 maintained the same principles and continue to focus our efforts on Prek Tamak and Prek Dambang, two rural communities about 40km north of Phnom Penh. We are registered as a charity in Germany and as international NGO in Cambodia. We are independent of any economic interest, political ideology or religion.

  Practicising conversation with students in Cambodia will you the opportunity to learn more about their lives and family traditions. The fact that you will live a Cambodian family provides you an insight into Khmer culture, food and daily routines. Since the school is only open from Monday to Friday you will have time at the weekends to travel to different places in Cambodia. Most of our volunteers prefer to spend their weekends in Phnom Penh.

  Aide

  We're looking for volunteers who can teach English Monday to Friday in the afternoon/evening. The weekends are free for volunteers to either stay on site or take some free time away.
  
  You will teach classes together with Cambodian teachers and on your own. No prior teaching experience is required.
  
  If you have ideas for a workshop that is helpful for our university students in Phnom Penh you can also offer/carry out a workshop at one of our student dormitories.

  Hébergement

  You will live with the Cambodian family of the English school's headmaster. Living in the countryside in Cambodia is a very basic lifestyle. However, you will have your own room. A fridge, a washing machine and WIFI are available at our school. The school is 40km north of Phnom Penh, so it takes about one hour to get to the capital, which offers a great variety of restaurants, cafes and bars and lots of opportunities for leisure activities.
  
  Lunch and dinner will be provided for volunteers. Lunch is served around 11 am and dinner around 7:30 pm. There's a fridge at the school, so volunteers can buy and keep food in the fridge.
  
  Volunteers will not be asked to pay any fee or payment.

  Our volunteers usually spend their weekends in Phnom Penh or travel to other parts of the country. You can visit the temples of Angkor in Siem Reap or enjoy the beautiful beaches on islands like Koh Rong.
