Edda has it all !
She was such a refreshing delight to have in our house.
She arrived on monday and was thrown in the deep end with our crazy life.
We had wonderful chats, and she absolutely transformed my garden.
We communicated at the beginning our likes, personalities expectations etc etc which helped create a smooth week.
She really

And she is vegetarian but is so understanding, accomodating and easy to feed. She was polite, helpful and trustworthy with the kids.
It was nice to be able to reward her hard work with a swim in the river, a kiwi christmas parade and ofcourse kiwi food 🤤
I actually tried to get her to stay longer !!
I wish Edda all the best with her future travels and have told her she is welcome back whenever.

Sheree is very generous, bubbly, genuinely interested in getting to know you and appreciative of everything you do—whether it’s gardening, baking, or cooking. From the start you feel very welcomed, not least because of the kids. They are super sweet and make an effort to include you, whether it’s by playing or chatting with you.

… read more wants you to have a great time and even involves you in her own activities, like going to netball, spending time at the lake or watching the Christmas parade. Beeing with her felt more like a friendship and less like anything work related, which I really enjoyed. It didn‘t feel like this usual HelpX/Workaway work relationship I had with some other families.
Guy is a bit more reserved at first but after a couple of days he’s much more open and engaged, which is completely understandable since they often have new strangers in their home.
Overall, the family makes you feel comfortable and valued because they are so transparent.
Thank you so much for welcoming me into your home and making me part of it for a few days :)

Tip for future Workaways: Make an effort to be truly helpful. Don’t hesitate to grab the vacuum, offer to cook dinner, tidy up the kitchen, maybe do the washing or unload the dishwasher. Small gestures like these make a difference and help lighten their load.Comentário

We had a great time with Sheree. She introduced us to netball. Our main mission was in the garden and a little cooking. The house is comfortable. We are disappointed to have had to leave earlier due to a change of plan on their part. Crêpes will be for next time. 😊🥞 Thank you from the Breton and Chamonix girl !! 🗻

Sheree and Guy are a powercouple: very sweet, welcoming and hardworking people. I stayed with them for almost two weeks and really enjoyed it. Their house is very comfy, the garden huge and the chickens funny (real escape masters!). Lena wrote to me a while back asking to stay. Im not normally good with making plans too far in advanced but had a vibe about lena so we kept communitcation open and found a way to make it work.

… read more is a real wild child who infects you with her bubbly energy, while Ryleigh warmed my heart with her caring nature. Sheree and Guy help them to grow into two wonderful characters. 🥰
The days felt pretty easy and the atmosphere in the house gave me a good feeling. I mainly helped around the house and did the simple things that came up. We had a real gourmet week where we tasted Sheree's cooking and my Austrian classics. 😋👩🏼🍳
I also really enjoyed the conversations in German and English. The exchange was interesting and we got on well. Sheree and Guy made sure I felt comfortable and were very caring! 😊

Her fun creative passion for kids was just perfect for our 2 girls.

She is bright and funny and mature for her age.
Always willing to help but also seeing if space was needed and finding her own entertainment at times aswell. The mix of options is what works best for our random last minute spontaneous family.
She was willing to try everything and put 100% into any task that was given.
The compliments oozed from her which made us feel honored and welcome.
The only negative thing I could say was that she left us 😭😭🤣

After 2 months in Indonesia and 1,5 months in New Zealand, I was kind of tired of traveling and longed for that „at-home-feeling“. … read more two weeks here I have learnt so much and enjoyed every second! Thank you for all of the trips we did together like the hike to the waterfall,
the swimming trip to the river or the special Waitangi day with the best fish and chips ever.
Speaking of food- thank you also for the amazing dinners and especially desserts!
I admire you for the great way you give your daughters a voice and allow them to have an opinion on certain things. Also the way the girls interact, play and even fight with each other was so special, educational and wonderful for me. While living with your family I got a wonderful inspiration of how raising a child can look like.
Also as a person I felt very seen and cared about. You asked me how I slept or how my run was and after all of the anonymity when traveling it was very nice to have someone who kind of knows you again. I really appreciate your warm, super friendly, loving and caring nature!
Alos your girls are two wonderful young ladies! Eleanors warm hugs and the „I love yous“ and Ryleighs smiles when her eyes sparkle up bright, gave me so much. Even when the girls might not remember me after some years, i will never forget them and will always think back of this true and authentic Family-Kiwi-Experience here in Geraldine.

Marine was awesome !

I spent a week with Sheree and her lovely family, and had a really great time with them.
I felt in family. I loved playing with the girls, and also learning and helping with baking, cooking or gardening.
I had the chance to join them during their week activities : like carrying the girls to school, see a neetball match, go to several birthday
… read more parties (Sheree is the mum of Geraldine 😂), spend a day at school, and even try waterski ! That was amazing !
Also, Tekapo is quite close, so during my free time, I had the opportunity to get there for a day and visit the area.
Sheree and her husband Guy are nice people, and always happy to talk or share advices about New Zealand or many other subjects. And, she's also a great cook 👍 !

Lisa was our Angel !!
She arrived in March fresh from France and fitted into our family so easily!
Communication was fantastic and she was kind considerate and ready to work. Always doing above and beyond and created an awesome bond with our 2yr old.
She was shy and nervous and the 1st few weeks were hard with language jetlag and sickness but

She stayed with us for 3 months and i would not hesitate to recommend her to other workaways.
She was responsible for our 2yr old sole care and our newborn in the final month. She did cooking housework animal care and all sorts of jobs around the house.
Even tho she had no vehicle she was always exploring on her days off.
She went on to help my friend for a week and then a hazelnut farm for 10days.
While with us she also did childcare work for another local family
