Living and working with Ilona and Franz was a pleasure. We had conversations, we exchanged ideas... I learnt a lot about Germany. They also made sure I had everything I needed to eat or to travel. Beautiful village and surroundings and good tips to wander around

Ilona and Franz are really nice people. I planned on staying for 4 weeks and ended staying for 6 weeks with them. We are like a family and I learned a lot from them, especially my German improved so much during my stay.

Greg was a friendly nice helper. He tried to do all the work that came up. He is a very nature Men . He helped us with the haymaking and brougt a lot of Wood into the house for Winter. Although this is only a second feedback for Ilona and Franz on workaway, they have been hosting volunteers for many years and making their wonderful place a home for people from various cultures and far away countries. What is more, I felt welcomed even by their animals and thanks to the dogs and cats, there was always something happening in the
… read more house. If you like animals, these will like you in return.
As for the work, there was always feeding of chickens in the morning and on most days, I did some cleaning and then helped with other things, such as fruit picking and wheelbarrowing wood into a shed. There was no strict routine and the work was not hard; I guess on average it was about 3-4 hours a day. It depended on whatever needed to be done and on the weather. You can expect to have plenty of free time for other activities - and if you like countryside, you will certainly find something to do!
Franz and Ilona live in a cute little town situated very close to The Bavarian Forest National Park, in a quiet and peaceful place which makes you forget the noise and stress of the city life. It is a hilly region, yet easy to walk, with nice and well-marked paths. As for the town itself, it is immensely rich in glass culture. There are two glass factories (where you can take a tour), glass museum, a lot of shops with beautiful glass products and even on the streets and in parks you can see all sorts of glass art. All in all, it is a truly relaxing and refreshing environment.

angekommen war, war ich ein bisschen aengstlich weil ich wusste nicht was ich erwarten sollte, es war mein erste Mal mit work away. Mein Aufenthalt hat bestimmt alle Erwartungen ubertroffen und meine Gastgeber waren sehr grosszugig und sympatisch. Ich habe viel gelernt, nicht nur uber Gartenarbeit und alle Tiere sondern Leben im allgemein auch. dafur bin ich sehr dankbar.
