Hi!

I'm Louis 29 from the UK.

I spent all my life living in the UK but always had a hunger for seeing new places and experiencing different cultures, especially with food and wine! My journey so far has taken me across most of Europe most of which was on my motorbike. Along the way I've developed a deep passion for Music, Food & Wine. I'm at the stage in my life where i'm looking to take a step back from Retail and move more into Agriculture while also taking time to focus on my heath and wellbeing.

In recent years, i've focused my time and energy into the world of wine Having spent 12 months in 2023 volunteering part-time in vineyards in both Italy and the UK. This has given me an understanding of the viticulture process and all the challenges that come with it. I also have 4 years experience in managing wine shop in the UK that gives me confidence in talking about wine with with people and hosting group tastings. In my free time I have studied and completed my WSET level 3 award in Wines giving me a big knowledge of the beautiful world of wine.

I'm hard working and down to earth meaning I can make friends very easy and I'm happy to help in anyway that I can. I'm helpful in cooking and cleaning and also with any gardening tasks such as pruining, digging, collecting firewood, harvesting etc... I'm not experienced with building work but i'll be more than happy to learn.

In 2022 while at a workaway in Gavi, I met my girlfriend Paula who I continued travailing with throughout summer and now have a long distance relationship. This year we are spending the Spring doing workaway's in France and Spain and then in Summer we will be in Canada doing the same thing! :)

All things food and wine! I feel like Europe is the home amazing food and wine and I'd very much like to be experience all the culture that it brings whether that's eating out or simply enjoying home cooked food with company and a bottle of something amazing. Also a lover of all things Music. Anything and everything will do however I have a particular love for Bob Dylan! While away I would also be very active is seeing what's around me. Having my Motorbike I will more than likely get away in my free time to experience all the things that are close by!

Deixado pelo Workawayer () para o anfitrião (Gardening, animals and help ...)

Myself and my girlfriend spent 6 amazing weeks at Nadine's beautiful home. During our arrival, one of Nadine's daughters Titaua was super with her communication and made us feel very comfortable when we arrived. She introduced us to all the animals and most importantly with Ours and Yoyo their two wonderful dogs which you'll get to know very well!… read more She showed us around the living area for the workaway's in the 3rd floor west wing of the house which is conformable and has its own on-suite bathroom, a separate bathroom for the other spare room plus a kitchen for workaways to cook their meals. The grounds around the house are vast and calm as are the surrounding areas which make for fantastic walks.

The work itself mainly consisted of doing a daily routine of the animals which made up small parts throughout the day (walking the dogs, feeding the chickens, donkeys, horses and ducks etc...). Depending on how many workawayers are with you you can spit these tasks up between you while another does other tasks such as mowing the grounds, fixing little broken things, weeding & painting etc. The hosts are happy to let the workaways manage this ourself's as to give us more flexibility which was useful. Once in a rhythm and with a schedule, the work is very peaceful and manageable.

Titaua is very honest in her workaway profile about Ours before hand and with good reason. Ours although magnificent in his own way does require a lot of patience and love. Due to his type of breed, he is incredibly stubborn and proud so sometimes going for a walk with him can be tricky when he decides he doesn't want to go but Titaua will show you tips in helping to communicate best with him. Yoyo is very much a loving, playful dog who is very easy to connect with and will always be glad to be walked.

As we had our own car, getting around was no issue however Nadine will gladly take you to the supermarkets weekly and sometimes the markets on a Saturday should you need. The area itself is beautiful and if you do have a car you'll be within decent driving distance to a lot of great places in the south of France. Having said that, even spending time around the area of the house is more than enough if you enjoy the peace and calm of the French countryside.

Nadine and her two daughters would regularly show their gratitude to us which was a nice touch as not many hosts take the time to say thank you to workawayers. Nadine would often invite us for a coffee or a glass of her own wine and a quick chat to discuss all sorts of things. She even took us to the cinema twice! Although Nadine doesn't speak much English, she can speak a little German which my girlfriend can speak so although sometimes a little tricky, we always managed to find a way to communicate.

Overall the experience was a beautiful one which holds a place in my heart. I hope to one day come back (having learned more French!) and cuddle with all the animals again! ❤️🌺
