Je souhaite améliorer mon anglais pour pouvoir voyager plus aisément, et aussi car dans mon futur métier, cela sera nécessaire. Pour cela je suis vraiment motivé. Aussi, je suis totalement ouvert à faire découvrir et à apprendre le français à des personnes qui seraient intéressées.

I was extremely lucky to do my first Workaway at David and Rosaleen’s house and it was a fabulous month!

David and Rosaleen are exceptionally kind and make us feel at home from the beginning of the stay. We each have our own room: I spent my first two weeks in a very cosy room, with the bathroom shared with another Workawayer, then I spent the … read more rest of my stay in a huge room with a private bathroom and large windows, which is very nice to rest and read a book in the armchair.
The house is spacious and very warm and has all what you need, such as a Smart TV or even Wi-Fi.

How can I talk about my stay without mentioning the meals, whose quantity and quality are there! You will have the opportunity to taste Irish breakfast, steak, chicken Kiev and many other dishes. If you are interested, David can even teach you some recipes. I now know how to cook yoghurt and scones, which I have the pleasure of making my family taste!

Meals are an opportunity to learn more about Ireland and discuss many different topics. On Sunday, I was able to meet their friends, who are just as warm, and learn a little more about the country, especially about Gaelic sports and football.

If you like to talk, debate and want to improve your English while educating yourself, evenings are the perfect time for that. I was able to talk many times with Rosaleen and David about history, politics and news, in the company of their three lovely cats.

The work requested is not hard and they are patient in the realisation of the tasks, which makes the work more pleasant. The tasks consisted mainly of turning the turf, bringing it back and weeding. When it rains, we don't work outside, but under the shed. We work four hours a day, mainly in the morning, so that we have the afternoon free to explore the surroundings on foot or by bike. The lake, and more generally the countryside around the house, are to be seen.

The work is quite flexible, which is very appreciable for planning our visits. David and Rosaleen will advise you on things to do. I also had the chance to visit Knock, Connemara Lakes, Cliffs of Moher and many other villages with David, who took the time to take us and lead us to the tourist sites.

In short, I had the opportunity to discover a new country, learn and work in a great place, and I will never thank David and Rosaleen enough for their welcome!
