Hi, this is Sarah and Joe! We met in Cardiff in 2018 and we’ve been together since :)
We lived in Cardiff for a few years together. In 2022, we did a 5-6 months road trip : we went to France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany and Spain. It was a great adventure that we would like to experience again one day, going through different routes/countries.

We have volunteered with Worldpackers a few times. The first time was in France, in a hotel/lodge, mainly gardening and taking care of 9 cats, chickens, ducks and turkeys. It was such a good experience and we kept in touch with our host, Debbie, since!
Our second Worldpackers experience was in Oban, Scotland, in a hostel, where we came to volunteer for a few weeks and ended up staying two months!
In 2023, we moved to a remote scottish island on the west coast: Isle of Colonsay, where we’ve been living and working since as housekeepers, taking care of holiday cottages and a backpacker’s lodge. We’ve also been dog sitting for a few people on the island. Last winter, we travelled to Japan and Vietnam for 2 months.

This is our first time using Workaway so we do not have any reviews yet, but we are happy to provide references from past employers and reviews from previous hosts on Worldpackers.

We are now looking into our next adventure in Ireland for 2026!

More about ourselves:

I’m Joe, I’m from Sheffield, England but I’ve spent most of my adult life in Wales. I studied illustration at Cardiff Metropolitan university. I usually spend most of my free time drawing or reading but I also like to explore and go hiking. I play guitar both electric and acoustic, I’ve recently taken an interest in traditional folk music.
I’ll definitely miss living in a small rural community and the many quirks that came along with it but I’m really looking forward to exploring Ireland.

I’m Sarah, I’m from France, I moved to the UK almost 8 years ago. I like art, films, books. I studied video editing, I love to film my travels and edit it for youtube to keep memories. I would be happy to help with any form of video/advertising/social media projects as well. I also teach french and english online and I am planning on teaching some form of art/illustration as well. I am quite interested in learning some new languages, I’m currently trying to improve my spanish! I’ve been to Ireland once but not long enough to really get to know the place properly!

We’ve both done quite a lot of housekeeping work as well as animal care and gardening over the past couple of years so we can help with that!
We’re happy to learn more about gardening and DIY projects!

We’re excited to explore Ireland and learn about the Irish history and culture! :)

We both speak english fluently. Sarah speaks french (native) and would be happy to teach the language! Joe is learning french and Sarah is learning spanish. Would love to learn some other languages!

Quais são suas habilidades?

Sarah - I have filming and photography background. I can film and edit videos, I also draw. I speak French and English fluently and I am currently learning Spanish. I have been teaching languages online for the past 2 years as a side job.
From previous volunteering experiences, I learnt some gardening as well as animal care. We both worked as housekeepers for the past two years, taking care of holiday homes.

Joe - I spend the majority of my time drawing and painting so I can help out with any art/painting and decorating projects. Like Sarah I have also learnt the basics of gardening through previous volunteering experiences as well as animal care. We both worked as housekeepers for the past two years, taking care of holiday homes. I also worked in a restaurant preparing and serving food. I am also learning to speak French.
