Hi there,

My name is Jim, I'm 36 years old and I travel alongside my faithful coyote Lizzie. For the past ten years, I've been following my intuition and letting the winds of opportunity guide me towards formative projects, creating a nomadic lifestyle that allows me to better understand my needs and who I am through others.

Calm and organized by nature, I'm sociable when I'm comfortable, but I find my equilibrium in good part in solitude. Music, nature and reading are my main sources of fulfillment - I find contentment in simple pleasures, sprinkled with mischievous humor. I love helping people, and they can count on my integrity and sense of responsibility.

Having spent a good while now exploring a diversity of landscapes and lifestyles has made me highly adaptive to new environments while sharing useful skills, allied with a rigor (sometimes tending towards perfectionism but I'm working on it).

Recently, a family matter brought me back to Brittany, where I had to deal with the illness of a loved one. This reinforced my desire to support people in need. Along the way, meeting a donkey gave me the idea of living more in pace with the rhythm of the seasons, making my companion a versatile partner on the way.

I think I could find a suitable candidate in France or Germany before travelling eastwards. For now, I'm open to projects to spend the winter until spring calls me back to trail, but my plans may evolve depending on opportunities.

The purpose is to gain the necessary experience and confidence before travelling independently.

CARPENTRY
> 5 years in carpentry, from making furniture to constructing wood frame buildings, provided me with an overall understanding in this field.

LOGISTICS
> 4 years of logistics experience where I acquired skills in operating various industrial vehicles including forklift trucks, articulated baskets, and road trucks. I have knowledge of logistics processes and organization.

FARMING
> Various experience in vegetable cultivation using both industrial and organic/permaculture methods, as well as animal breeding and care of sheep, cows, chickens, dogs, horses, etc. I can drive tractor and manoeuvre the trailers also.

LIVING ASSISTANCE HOME CARING
> 3 years as a living assistant for sick and disabled persons. Additional experience in home sitting/guarding including general maintenance and gardening.
I also a very good bound with children.

BUSHCRAFT
> I started my career in army (3 years) where I acquired a strong sens of organisation, discipline and rusticity combined with practical skills in nature immersion.

COMPUTING
> Passionate about computing since childhood. Proficient with computer hardware, software, internet, and troubleshooting configurations and bugs.

Jim stayed at our place from mid November until the end of March.
As a daily routine he took care of our horses, mules and donkeys, feeding them, mucking out, driving the tractor to unload the manure trailer, loading hay bales into the hay stock, preparing feed buckets for the next day.

Jim and Anna came to be with us early February 2020 to stay for up to four weeks, when we were then due to leave for a month’s holiday in Bali. The Trusted Housesitters we had booked to cover this holiday period, were suddenly unable to come and we were delighted when Jim and Anna spontaneously agreed to stay on in a new capacity for the duration… read more of our holiday during March.

When we left them to look after everything on 27 February, they had both already demonstrated to us their ethic of hard work, adaptability, commitment and willingness to learn. We both knew we could completely trust them with our animals and the land/house tasks which included specialist care of 150 newly planted perfumed roses.

We left them with a long list of potential tasks knowing that many would not be completed but since we were suddenly unable to return back to Italy as a result of the Covid virus, thankfully Jim and Anna stepped in to promise to continue taking care of everything until we could return. Nothing has been too much trouble and on many occasions they have come up with creative ideas of how to improve the greenhouse and other structures on the land.

Jim in particular comes with a wide range of carpentry and other practical skills, using his initiative without needing supervision and with the ability to see each task through to successful completion. When we had two huge tasks of clearing the cuttings of many olive and fir trees, he was efficient and systematic, surprising us both by how he he ploughed on through to clear everything in a matter of days.

Anna came with less practical skills but with her determination to learn and interest in everything she completed painting some extensive metal railings, she repainted many wooden structures, helped build various wood log stores, sprayed and watered my 150 perfumed roses, dried the petals and together with Jim they worked the vegetable garden and even steam cleaned the floors inside. She proved her skills as a cook in our kitchen before we left preparing delicious meals for us.

Their tiny dog Lizzie is sweet and totally easy and Chammy our little terrier is much fitter as a result of their care and attention in taking her for many long walks daily. They are both delightful, awake, empathic and self sufficient people who love working close to nature without the need for the distractions of urban life. They have become great friends despite our age difference, and they will always be welcome to stay with us anytime they like. We cannot thank them enough for all they have done and for the consistent goodwill in being responsible for so many different aspects of our house and new business.

Jim arrived in Ireland from Brittany with his beautifull dog, linking up with his Irish roots, i was so previliged that he chose to stay at my home for 1 month
