Hi, how are you? I would like to introduce myself. 😊
I am Manon, 22 years old and I am from the Netherlands. Where I normally live with my parents, twin brother and our sweet labradoodle Teddy. (At the moment I am staying in France).

Last summer, I completed my Economics and Marketing studies at the University of Rotterdam. I had already decided that this study was not for me. But what would suit me?

For a long time, I had the feeling that I wanted to go abroad. To gain experience, but also to develop myself as a person. I could never make this choice before, because I played korfball at a high level throughout my youth and went through the national youth teams. I am a big sports fan. Besides korfball, I play tennis, I do road cycling and I also did crossfit for a few months.

But since the beginning of this year, I have stopped and I could do what I like to do: traveling. To start with, I went to study in Cambridge for two months.
If you want to travel and work abroad you need a high level of English. That is what I studied English and I have successfully reached level C2.

Then I made the choice to go to Antibes, France. Besides sports, I have a love for water and water sports. That is why I made the choice to look for a job on a yacht. I have a boating licence and a jet ski certificate. Long story short, this was very different from what I had expected. The yacht industry is very competitive and it is very difficult to find a job. I still have a passion for this, but I noticed in myself that I wanted to do something else first that I also enjoy. And that is when Workaway came into the picture. I really enjoy meeting new people, doing different jobs, but most of all, helping people. That gives me a lot of energy.

Quais são suas habilidades?

It might be helpful for you to know something about my work history:
I have 5 years of experience in the hospitality industry where I have served guests, taken orders and worked behind the bar. Secondly, I have three years managerial experience. Through this job I learned how to manage a group of 15 people, take on responsibilities, carry out control- and feedback rounds and be the first point of contact for customers.

Apart from this, I have gained plenty of experiences in training and coaching children in the past few years. In addition, during my time in the national korfbal team, I organised and conducted several clinics at primary schools and sports clubs in the Netherlands as well as in England and Germany.

I am also in possession of the following water sports certificates: Powerboat Level 2 and PWC/Jetski.

Owing to the extensive land based experiences I created skills that I can translate very well to different task and jobs. In short, I have a positive mindset, I always give my 100% commitment and I’m a quick thinker who thinks in solutions.
Due to my experiences as an athlete I developed myself into a real team player, who have willingness to take on added responsibilities.
