Adventurous and calm, contemplative and positive, kind and searching. I’m Lydia, and it’s hard to describe oneself. But I’m an open-minded, down to earth person who laughs easily. I’ve traveled quite a bit, but it’s my first time on workaway. I’ve got experience from volunteering, both with refugees in Greece and a monastery in Myanmar (as well as part-time volunteering in Sweden). The past four years I’ve been living, studying and working in southern Sweden. I have a bachelor’s in Development Studies and have worked for a company developing strategic ways for companies and authorities to manage their impact on biodiversity.
I now wish to travel again, and would love the opportunity to get to know a community and get my hands dirty with DIY projects, gardening and what not. I love being in nature and strongly believe in living mindfully in harmony with our surroundings.
As a person I am easy to communicate with, I am easy going and love to learn new things. I love to sing, I practice yoga regularly and am exploring different ways to express my creativity through photography, knitting/crocheting, sewing and painting.
I’ve been longing to learn french properly, as I studied it for a bit in high school, but haven’t maintained it since. I think a workaway would be a wonderful opportunity to get back into the language. I have heard wonderful things about southern France, and think it would be the perfect opportunity to experience beautiful nature and engage with beautiful people.

Quais são suas habilidades?

I have some knowledge in woodworking as I have done some DIY projects like shelves, some small tables and a play-kitchen for children. I don't have any experience from renovating, but I'm a fast learner.
I have been around animals my whole life, grew up with dogs and cats and helped out on my family's farm with horses, hens, rabbits and sheep. I love animals in all shapes and forms.
I can sew and knit, still learning to crochet.
I'm a good writer and have worked with advertising and marketing. I have some experience with design, and have worked extensively with altering services and products to target specific audiences.
I love good food, am a vegetarian (mostly vegan as well, even though I'll eat fish if it's offered). I am good at cooking, but prefer to cook when the meal is to be shared.
My first jobs as a teenager was a cleaner, so I'm very good at cleaning.
I have great experience with working with children. I've worked in schools and kindergartens in Sweden, and had extra responsibility of the child friendly space in the community centre we were running for refugees in northern Greece.
