Hello :)

My name is Love and I am just beginning my Workaway journey as I start my gap year abroad. This past spring, I graduated with a Bachelors in International Studies with a minor in Philosophy, and I am really passionate about both of these things. If you would like to talk about your personal philosophies, I would love to hear them. I am a very sociable, open-minded, honest, and aware person, so I would love to meet people who are the same.

I was born in eastern Ukraine near Donetsk, and grew up in the US moving between Chicago, LA, Indianapolis, and some cities/towns in between. During this time, I was partially raised by my Korean family, so I have American, Ukrainian and Korean recipes/music/movies to share!

I am on Workaway to learn more about the world and gain skills that are meaningful to me. I would thus love to participate in art, education, and sustainability projects, as well as where these intersect. I consider myself to be a very creative person, so I would love to connect with other artists and learn about their creative practices. I am really into writing, drawing, photography, and want to learn more about filmmaking. I love to learn new things, although I also love teaching, whether this be art, languages, or another one of my skills.

Regarding sustainability, I would love to learn more about farming, gardening, and construction, as well as sustainable living more generally. My great grandparents built their home in Ukraine, and had a farm with animals and a wide array of fruits/vegetables to feed the family. I have very fond memories of being there and would love to learn more about how they did it, so that I could make it a reality for my family in the future. I am not afraid to get my hands dirty or be in the sun. In fact, I highly value my time offline.

I have a very international background and I very much value cultural exchange, so I lastly would love to help out at hostels or guesthouses too. I have stayed at many that made my travels much more meaningful and I truly value the community these places create. I feel as though I have learned more in some hostels than I have in my classes. I would very much want to be a part of making these spaces what they are meant to be.

I have both volunteered and worked in many roles; I myself was a volunteer coordinator, a lifeguard, a youth mentor, a research assistant, did street outreach, and worked in my university's peace lab. I also have some experience working on my university's farm.
