Descrição

We are Chloe (F25) and Kevin (M32).

We were both born in Eastern Canada but have lived in the Rocky Mountains of Alberta, Canada for the last five years, in Banff National Park. We have been together for four years. We arrive to Europe on October 31, 2023, and are seeking honest work to help us discover the cultures and languages of both Italy and France.

We are both hard-working and enthusiastic - we are not scared of physical labour to help you with your outdoor project. But we are also good cooks, love to clean, and are very kind and patient, good with kids and animals. We do not have any dietary restrictions, and are very interested in traditional and local cuisines / food cultures / food production and sustainability.

We are both University educated in liberal arts, and our studies have given us a strong curiosity to explore the world and give our best to connect with different cultures. We love gastronomy and cuisine, and are seeking to learn more about food or wine production / agriculture in particular.

Chloe-

In school my area of study was Italian studies with minors in art history and French studies. I have visited several countries in Europe over the years, but am excited to spend some extended time in France and Italy this year and immerse myself in life there.

My field of work has always been hospitality. Growing up the oldest in my family, I have always been responsible and independent. I love to cook for family and friends. I am kind and patient with children (I was a tutor throughout my secondary school years) and I have a love for all animals. I am a fast learner and hard worker, not scared to get my hands dirty.

Kevin-

I am a Sommelier and restaurant manager/server with more than ten years experience. Last year I received my certification as an Advanced Sommelier with the Court of Master Sommeliers (an exam that included accurate blind tasting and identifying wines).

I hold a Baccalaureate in English Language and Literature and I am a good and patient teacher. I also have taken French language courses at university, have experienced french immersion programs in Francophone Canada, and learned and practiced my french when I completed a Vendange in Alsace for the 2017 harvest.

I am hard-working, kind, and seeking a unique experience related to wine, agriculture, language, and cultural exchange. I play some guitar, write, and love reading and spending time with my young nephews and niece. I believe we are at our best when we learn from each other and cooperate. I cannot wait to work with you!

We are both Fluent in English (mother tongue) and are willing and patient teachers. Kevin has French Proficiency at the B2 upper Intermediate level (strong comprehension and communication for near every situation) Chloe has French abilities at the B1 intermediate level (strong comprehension, limited expression) We both have conversational Italian skillsWe are capable, quick, and enthusiastic learners. Developing our language skills / engaging in language exchange is one of our main goals in travel.

Chloe:

-Trained and experienced bartender/mixologist. (WSET Level 2) Extensive knowledge in spirits, wine, sales and inventory management
-10 years of experience in the hospitality industry, from washing dishes, to fine dining service, upper management, training and hiring restaurant staff
-2 years of study towards an Honours Bachelor Degree in Italian Studies with minors in Art History and French Studies
-2 years of experience in a custom art framing shop, wood cutting and fitting, glass cutting and minor art restoration work
-Physically fit and comfortable with manual labour and heavy lifting

Kevin:

- Trained and experienced Sommelier (Advanced CMS). Expertise in wine knowledge, blind tasting, service and sales.
- Completed wine grape harvest in Alsace , France 2017 and vineyard maintenance (green harvest / pest management) in New Zealand 2014
- Extensively traveled in New Zealand (6 months) Italy (5 months in Piemonte, Toscana, and Sicilia - Etna) and France ( 3 months Lyon, Alsace, and Bourgogne)
- English Language Baccalaureate - willing and able to teach English at any level
- Physically fit, weight-lifter, able and happy to accomplish physical labour / heavy lifting

We are both very creative people. Kevin enjoys writing poetry and playing guitar and Chloe enjoys painting / sketching.

We are both outdoor enthusiasts, we enjoy hiking and Kevin enjoys downhill skiing and skating, as well as paddling / kayaking.
