Hello, my name is Jana. After travelling the world and living in Chile for a while, I have settled back in my home country Germany in the small town of Eberswalde near Berlin.
I work in nature conservation and get the most happy when I'm out in the forest, a garden or learning a new skill. My interests and passions are broad and reach from gardening, mushroom hunting and wild herbs to climbing and more mundane things like tattooing, dancing and shibari.

Against my expectations from a few years ago, I currently have a pretty stable and conventional day to day routine and home. It feels good to have a stable base and loving friends nearby at this moment of my life. Yet, I project myself in a more community-oriented and nature-based home in the not so far future. Therefore, I like to keep getting to know different concepts of living in community and learning skills that make me more self-sufficient and / or happy.


Via workaway but also through informal work exchanges I have gotten to know various projects and places contributing in a variety of tasks. That included for example gardeing, cooking (vegan) construction (clay building, yurts and conventional construction) and child care. I am a curious and fast learner and also open for new activities and tasks.
I am a big fan of clear and appreciative communication - especially when it comes to expectations towards the work exchange.

Finally, I have no tolerance for sexist and any way of disrespective behaviour. Unfortunately, I have observed that many volunteers (especially non-cis-males) make bad experiences with hosts (especially single cis-men) but are afraid of denouncing inappropriate behaviour out of fear of receiving bad comments in return. This is not the case with me. I am very kind and harmony-seeking but very determined when it comes to misuse of power.

Quais são suas habilidades?

I am a passionate cook (vegan) and have some gardening experience. Actually, I can adapt to almost any task since I am very curious and persistent. I am willing to work and get my hands dirty! Since I am very curious I can quickly adapt to almost any task - at least I think so! I also have experience giving language classes and could imagine giving workshops in both an educative field (e.g. on topics like sufficiency, circular economy, globalization and sustainability, money-free life, etc.) as well as artistic or culinaric ones (e.g. confection of flower crowns, vegan food)
I am specifically interested to improve my skills which support a self-sustaining lifestyle from garderning to construction.

I'm a chameleon with plenty of interests from gardening and cookies to aerial silks, dance and yoga. I Stick to a vegan diet however I dont expect to get an extra treatment. I will help myself. :)
