I’m Francesca, I'm Italian, a mother, I work freelance as a fashion designer (I use Moulage technique to ''upcycle'' and re-use second-hand man's vests, by hand). My family is made up of three people; Me, Chris (my Swiss partner), and Leonardo our 8 year old son, who was born in Australia during our travel around the world by motorbike (almost 3 and half years). Chris had the project to travel around the world and we met each other in Goa, we decided to keep travelling together until I got pregnant…. I can tell the rest of the story when I’ll visit you, if you like! During our long journey we were very lucky to meet generous and interesting people, we got a couch for free many times, and we received so much help that we always thought to give back the help and the warmth we received, that's also why we are very active in couchsurfing. Furthermore Leonardo is homeschooled and this gives us the freedom to use our time, so we thought that workaway would be a wonderful way to enrich our self. It's exhilarating to me the richness of each life.

Quais são suas habilidades?

I studied in Milan as an industrial designer, so I was always good in artcraft and creative activities. I did ceramic workshops with various techniques, fused glass workshops and artistic stained glass.
When I was young I worked in bars, restaurant, hotels… so I would say I’m good in welcoming people and letting them feel comfortable. I worked in a designer’s studio (home furnishings and decoration), as an art buyer and assistant costume designer for theater and movies. I am passionate about philosophy, nutrition, naturopathy, Traditional Chinese Medicine, non-violent communication, art, photography… I'm very interested in improving the sustainability of my way of living.
We like healthy but tasty food and we also like to cook and experiment with different kinds of dishes from other countries. We are used to cooking 'home-made' and buying as little processed food as possible (even then, I always read the list of ingredients and nutritional values very carefully).
We also like to preserve fruit and vegetables from our garden by making jam, preserves, products in oil and salt...(We don't like to waste food and in general we try to save everything that is still useful or functional).
For physical problems or disorders we use natural and homeopathic remedies or we modify our diet by avoiding foods that cause inflammation or may be the cause of the discomfort (it is even better to look for the psychological origin of the diseases because I'm convinced of the connection between body and mind) .
We have a small garden and I take care of it, even if I don't have a lot of experience (I come from a farmer's family on my father's side, but they never taught me about that).
I am able to do small maintenance jobs around the house and in general I am curious and motivated to learn. I am capable of sewing both by hand and with a sewing machine.
Leonardo is very good at playing, especially with lego, he likes to cook and to help with any job if he's motivated. He needs some time to get close to people, but then he becomes attached in a tender and passionate way.

At home we don't have a television and we are against computer games... but everyone is free to make their own choices. We are used to hosting travelers at home with the couchsurfing philosophy.
