Hello fellow travelers!
My name is Samuele, I’m an Italian guy looking for my next adventure.
I’ve been registered on WorkAway for a few years now with the intention of contributing to amazing projects as a volunteer, but until now, I haven’t found the time to fully dedicate myself to it.

I’ve finally decided to take a year off from my commitments and focus mainly on helping others, living incredible experiences around the world, with the main goal of getting to know myself better.
I’m ready to put all my skills at your disposal and share all the positive energy I have!

This will be my very first long-term trip… and my very first time traveling completely solo!
Landing in Kuala Lumpur mid-January, then drifting slowly north with the wind Malaysia → Thailand → Laos → Vietnam… and wherever the road and the universe feel right.
I travel slow, with an open heart and a totally blank itinerary. No rush, no fixed plans — just chasing good energy, random sunsets, life-changing street food, and those beautiful mystical coincidences that happen when you finally let go.

I have a great sensitivity toward animals, and a deep respect for nature, people, and the places that host me along my life journey.
Since I was little, I’ve had a special connection with cats; I know how to interact with them and take care of their needs. They sense it, and very often, they immediately trust me.
I’ve already had some experience with cat sitting, including for small colonies.. Of course, most of the cats had been rescued from the street.

That said, I’m open to experiences of any kind. I’m looking for intense and genuine social exchanges!
I’ve also been involved in permaculture projects and sustainable self-building initiatives.
By profession, I am an electrician, with a strong passion for energy self-sufficiency. For this reason, it would be ideal for me to help with tasks related to my specialization.

I love looking after pets (the fluffier the better), enjoy keeping gardens tidy and green, happy to do all kinds of general maintenance around the house, and pretty good at figuring out how to fix whatever breaks. Basically, if it has wires, fur, or leaves, I’m your guy :)

I don’t believe things happen by chance.. I’m following my own path, and I’m sure amazing things will come my way thanks to WorkAway.

Grown up tinkering with electronics and computers – it’s always been my thing!
I’m a qualified electrician, super handy with anything IT-related, love looking after pets (the fluffier the better), enjoy keeping gardens tidy and green, happy to do all kinds of general maintenance around the house, and pretty good at figuring out how to fix whatever breaks. This was my first experience with Workaway, and I can honestly say I couldn’t have asked for anything better. I was looking for an opportunity connected to animal welfare and care, especially with cats, which I have always loved deeply.

After some searching, I found Greg and Amy, and with them I lived one of the most intense experiences of my… read more life. I say “intense” because working in this kind of environment isn’t always easy or pleasant, especially when dealing with animals rescued from the streets, from abusive situations, or with serious health issues.
But I can guarantee that the gratitude shown by our feline friends makes every effort worthwhile. Every extra hour you choose to give can truly make a difference in this mission.
Many cats require special care and frequent attention, while others simply need some cuddles and companionship. Occasionally, there are also a few extra puppies ❤️

Greg and Amy are two amazing people and they really need support, as they currently manage everything on their own: over 60+ cats at the shelter, rescue missions around the city almost every day, social media pages, and much more.
Every day there is a lot of work to keep the shelter running smoothly: general cleaning, organizing spaces, preparing cages for new arrivals, and more. Then there are adoption days (which are really fun!), usually every weekend, when the kittens are brought out to find them a new home. You’ll end up being “kitten salespeople” 😄 and it’s very important to help especially the youngest ones find families.
Every adoption creates space to welcome new cats in need, and since the shelter has limited space, keeping everything well organized is essential for the animals’ well-being.

Thanks to Greg and Amy, I also had the chance to meet many locals and enjoy a wonderful cultural and social exchange in the beautiful city of Kuching.
I highly recommend this experience to anyone who truly loves cats and feels emotionally ready to handle situations that are not always easy.
I originally planned to stay only two weeks, but I became deeply connected to their mission and decided to extend my volunteering to one month.
