Sveiki! We are Ivan and Rūta, a couple gathering knowledge and skill in homesteading, farm life and self sufficiency.
We have a few skills already that can be useful or interesting to others, we are very interested and passionate about wild food foraging and food preparation, some herbal medicine and making extractions, natural cosmetics and repurposing used oil to make lye soap! We love making wild salads, gathering herbs for tea, jams, syrups, seasonings and our latest obsession has been making acorn flour for flatbread or pancakes every fall, which would be fun to share with others. We are also dabbling in long term food storage, learning how to can, ferment and preserve, making herbal infusions and oils for both topicals and consumption, hand crafts like hand sewing, experiencing many natural materials from silk to leather or fur. We hope we can share and expand our knowledge with our hosts.
We are particularly interested in anything involved with homesteading and living with and off the land. We have been dabbling in experimenting with gardening, learning and implementing different techniques that brought both funny and satisfying results, we forage wild food in the summers, can fish and love to learn about providing for ourselves with limited conditions. From small city budgets, to remore places without access to stores - we will always find a way.
We enjoy learning about farm animal care and getting hands on experiences, such as being entrusted to take care of a 16 horse ranch alone (thank you Molėtų Žirgai), which has taught us so much about not only horsecare, but discipline, responsibility and especially teamwork, vulnerability and compassion towards each other as well. This experience has taught us skills that can be used both directly and as transferable skills in other environments, we work great as a team and individually.
We are welcoming to discomfort and new unfamiliar experience as well as we are very excited to learn and adapt to different lifestyles, conditions and people we will meet.

Quais são suas habilidades?
Both have knowledge and experience in wild goods foraging and cooking, food preservation(canning, dehydrating (we make awesome beef jerky)), cheese making, sewing(and many crafts),
Ivan is very crafty and handy, knows welding, carpentry.
Rūta has experience and education in assistant veterinary work, animal care and dog training.
Both easily pick up new skills and are happy to learn more!
