Descrição

We love to meet people and learn about them - their culture, way of life and thoughts. Brian works as an aide in elementary school with children who need learning support. He also tutors unaccompanied refugee minors to the U.S. who have made their way from Afghanistan,Myanmar and other troubled areas. Andrea works as a library coordinator for the Free Library of Philadelphia where she helps promote library programs. We met in graduate school for Library and Information Sciences so reading and learning is a big part of our lives. Brian loves gardening and work projects and Andrea loves horses and is on the board of our neighborhood non-profit stable. Art-making is important for us both of us, Brian dabbling in ceramics and sculpture and helping out in a program for blind artists; Andrea embroiders, works with beads, draws (she did her undergrad degree in illustration.) Our family often hosts foreign students. And we love to take walks and hikes in nature, exploring new places and revisiting familiar ones. Brian is the adventurous family cook, Andrea the laundress. We have three grown children and this past year our fourth beloved grandchild arrived! We have family in Ecuador and visit whenever we can!

We're very good at organizing things, skills developed in work as librarians. Brian is proficient with computer systems and has a lot of teaching and retail experience and farm skills from volunteering. Andrea is a great listener and people often seek her out for personal, confidential support.
