Hi, my name is Alissa! (she/her) I recently graduated college with an environmental studies degree and minors in writing and food systems. I am really excited to pursue some post-grad travel to further explore my interests and learn about new places.

I love spending time outside, whether it's gardening, hiking, biking, running, etc. I especially enjoy making connections with new people and learning from those around me. I recently participated in a study abroad program in Tanzania, which further piqued my curiosity to travel and explore new places and cultures. Happy to connect with hosts and other workawayers!

Quais são suas habilidades?

I am an experienced gardener and have also worked on a couple different organic farms over the years which involved vegetable production, a dairy herd, pigs, poultry and laying hens, etc.

As a passionate writer, I enjoy creative writing and am happy to contribute to a variety of written pieces such as blogs or informational material for a website/social media.

I have extensive customer service experience from working at a grocery store and also at a restaurant. So this could translate to many tasks, such as guest interaction at a hostel. I also have done babysitting for years, so I am comfortable working with young kids.

My degree in environmental studies has given me a passion for sustainability, so I am interested in activities like green building and clean energy--and I'm eager to learn more about real life application of these! Through my study abroad program, I am familiar working with diverse populations and community members to better understand their experiences and needs. I also have experience with youth mentorship, particularly in an outdoor education setting. Overall, I am excited to contribute my skills and I'm very open to learning new things!

I am a pretty mellow person who loves to relax with a book, write poems, practice yoga, or get lost in my thoughts during a run. Food brings me an immense amount of joy and so learning the cuisine of a new place would be great!
