Hi! We're Zeki and Emma, both from the UK and love to explore wild places. Always active, we met working at an adventure school on the north-west coast of Scotland and are both excited by mountain and coastal environments.

I'm Zeki, and I absolutely love travelling. I consider myself much more at home away from large cities and towns, doesn't matter what I'm doing, I just like being out in nature. I'm based near Edinburgh in Scotland but spend as much time as possible working in more rural areas such as Sutherland (where Emma and I met) and the Cairngorms. I work mostly as an outdoor instructor, coaching climbing, skiing, sailing and kayaking; I'm also a level 5 TEFL teacher, so can help teaching English. Having spent my childhood living in Switzerland and spending summers in Scotland, I learned to appreciate mountain environments for their beauty and the opportunity for excercise they provide. When I'm not doing these things, I go back to my base outside Edinburgh where I help my parents turn our land into a smallholding and volunteer in the nearby community store.

I'm Emma and I have been working in nature conservation on the Isle of Uist in western Scotland! I love learning about wildlife, especially in forest and marine ecosystems, and want to explore New Zealand to learn about endemic and invasive species. Working towards my qualifications to guide people hillwalking and rock climbing has let me enjoy the mountains around me and made me want to explore further afield. Also a keen painter, I'm often drawing the scenery and people around me and finding inspiration in my travels.

Quais são suas habilidades?

Zeki:

Farm work - I enjoy doing anything outside, and at home we try to live at least semi-self-sufficient, meaning most of our fruit and vegetables are home grown. Thanks to this I know a fair bit about growing your own food. We also keep chickens, sheep and bees. I'm still learning how to look after the animals (particularly the latter two) but know a bit and am keen to get more involved! Finally, I'm confident using power tools, as well as driving quadbikes, for collecting firewood and building infrastructure such as tracks and fences.

Cooking - I would not exactly call myself a master chef, but am capable of cooking and definitely enjoy it. I am also always keen to learn new things here.

Outdoor activities - I'm a qualified and experienced guide/instructor in several outdoor sports (canoeing, kayaking, hiking, rock climbing, sailing, skiing), and can drive small powerboats with outboard motors. I'm also First Aid trained.

I am also a level 5 qualified TEFL teacher, and speak two (and a half) languages!


Emma:

Outdoor work- I have worked as a trapper and assistant ranger on nature reserves where I have learned how to improve wildlife habitats, maintain infrastructure like fences and footpaths, and monitor change over time. I am comfortable using hand and power tools and would love to learn more about homesteading and ecoprojects in New Zealand.

Painting- I love to draw and paint and produced several murals and artworks for cafes, resturants and events while I was at university, so I would be happy to help with any creative projcts! I have also helped redecorate houses so have some DIY knowledge and would be happy to help any tasks around the house.

Cooking- I enjoy cooking and love to try new recipes from new places. My family is large so many mounths to feed doesn't phase me!
